Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response identifies petroleum products and engineered goods as the leading categories and attempts to describe changes, but it reports several figures and trends inaccurately. For example, petroleum earnings are given as “6%” and “65%,” whereas the chart shows about $61 billion and $63 billion; engineered goods are about $57 billion and $62 billion. Gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, not from 50% to 40%. The overview also misses the clearest comparison: textiles had the largest percentage increase, while gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. The chart covers five categories, but the opening says six. Select the main trends accurately and distinguish export values in billions from percentage changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview, and further details, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview says petroleum is upward and engineered goods are second, while the following paragraphs mix values, percentages, and rankings without a stable comparison. “Textiles and agriculture products are same” is also unclear because textiles rose while agricultural exports were nearly unchanged. Group the categories by trend—rising, falling, and stable—and use clear comparisons within each group. This would give the response a more coherent overall progression and make its linking language more accurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “categories,” “increased,” and “down,” so the general subject is usually recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the data difficult to interpret. “Six various categories” is awkward, “second number” does not clearly mean the second-highest category, and “ratio” is not suitable for describing export values. There are also spelling errors such as “countrys,” “percntage,” and “litteraly.” Use precise terms consistently, especially “value,” “percentage change,” “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly relies on simple sentence patterns, with limited control of more complex structures. Frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction sometimes obscure the intended comparisons. For instance, “the export earnings … is upward trend” needs a verb phrase such as “showed an upward trend,” while “in 2015 is 6%” lacks an appropriate past-tense structure and confuses the figure with a percentage. “After one years this ratio is increased is 5%” contains several linked errors that make the meaning difficult to follow. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons, including “rose from … to …” and “remained at …,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
