Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart and table and attempt to summarise changes, including the broad point that most categories rose while gems and jewellery fell. However, several key figures and comparisons are inaccurate: petroleum products rose by about 3%, not 8.5%, and the chart shows textiles at roughly $26 billion in 2015 and $31 billion in 2016, not $35 billion and $42 billion. The engineered-goods figures are also misreported, and “635 billion” and “66%” confuse values with percentages. The overview is incomplete because it does not clearly identify the highest-earning category or the strongest increase. Select the main trends accurately, distinguish dollar values from percentage changes, and support the overview with reliable comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a brief overview, and two paragraphs of details. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal contrast. However, progression is not consistently clear. The overview says petroleum, engineered goods and textiles increased, then incorrectly assigns the 8.5% rise to petroleum; the later details move between categories without a clear comparison pattern. The final paragraph repeats the point that four categories increased and gems declined rather than adding a useful summary. Use one paragraph for the overall trends and another to compare the figures systematically, grouping categories by increase, decrease or stability. Check that linking phrases accurately express the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “export earning,” “decreased,” “increased” and “remained almost same,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the data difficult to interpret. For example, “petroleum products price” and “commodities price” describe prices rather than export earnings, while “benefit from this sector” is not a natural way to report a value. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “petrolium,” “inreased,” “catagories” and “comodities.” Use precise terms such as “export value,” “earnings” and “percentage change,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast with “On the other hand” and a time comparison beginning “From 2015 to 2016.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms can make some details hard to follow. For example, “earning from petrolium product were” has a singular/plural agreement problem, while “then rose to 42%” does not form a clear comparison between years. The sentence beginning “Engineered goods followed the same trend” also combines several ideas without clear grammatical links. Practise writing shorter, complete comparisons with consistent past-tense verbs, and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
