Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart gives information about the value of one country's exports in different categories during the period of two years e.g 2015 and 2016. It also illustrates the change of percentage in each category of exports in 2016 as campared the past year.
Overall, The bar chart shows that five products of a country for example, petroleum, engineere goods, gem, jewellery, agricultural and textile products. By comparison of both years 2016 percentage is higher than 2015. Also, These years are represented by different colours in the chart, for example 2015 is in the dark colour, but on the other hand 2016 is in the light gray colour.
The bar chart clearly explains that in 2016 Petroleum products are the highest value which is nearly 70, while in past year 2015 this value is slightly above than 6. beside this Engineereing goods are the second high achiver in value of 2016 because in 2015 it is bit lower than 2016. gemes, jewellery, and agricultural products are slightly equal, at the end in testiles products there is a change in value like in 2016 higher than 2015.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the chart’s subject and mention several relevant categories, but the response reports the main features only minimally and includes important inaccuracies. For example, you say petroleum exports were “nearly 70” in 2016 and “slightly above than 6” in 2015, whereas the chart shows approximately $63 billion and $61 billion. The overview claim that 2016 was higher across the categories is also incorrect: gems and jewellery fell, while agricultural exports were almost unchanged. The percentage-change table is not meaningfully summarised, and comparisons among categories remain vague. To improve, give a clear overview of the largest and smallest values and the contrasting trends, then support it with accurate figures and the reported percentage changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and a paragraph describing selected categories. This gives the reader some organisation, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “By comparison,” and “At the end” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is limited because the overview repeats category information rather than summarising the key trends, and the final paragraph moves between categories without a clear comparison. Some connections are also unclear, as in “gemes, jewellery, and agricultural products are slightly equal.” Organise the body around meaningful comparisons—for example, the highest-value exports, the declining category, and the strongest increase—and use references and transitions that make those relationships explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “value,” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or informal choices make parts difficult to interpret. “Second high achiver” is not a suitable description of a category’s ranking, while “slightly equal” does not clearly express similarity. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “campared,” “engineere,” “gemes,” and “testiles,” and “dark colour” is unnecessary detail rather than useful data language. Build a more precise set of chart terms, such as “rose,” “declined,” “remained stable,” “accounted for,” and “approximately,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including “It also illustrates…” and a sentence beginning “because,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and comparison patterns sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “in past year 2015 this value is slightly above than 6” has an unclear comparison and tense, while “in 2016 Petroleum products are the highest value” does not form a correct relationship between the category and its value. Capitalisation after “Overall” and “Also” is also inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and straightforward comparison structures, such as “Petroleum exports rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion,” before attempting longer sentences.
