Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main categories and attempt an overview, noting that petroleum products earned the most and that several sectors changed. However, the overview misreports the key trend: textiles rose, rather than showing a “dawnward trend,” and agricultural exports were essentially stable, not clearly growing. Several figures and comparisons are also inaccurate: engineered goods were about $57 billion in 2015 and $62 billion in 2016, not $52 billion and $60 billion; gems were about $43 billion and then $41 billion, not $50 billion; and textiles rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion, not $34 billion to $54 billion. The table’s percentage changes are also misread for agriculture. Select the most important trends and check each figure against the chart before describing it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introductory sentence and overview are followed by a paragraph discussing the five categories. Sequencing categories one by one makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and phrases such as “Turning to” and “Coming to” signal transitions. However, the progression is repetitive and sometimes difficult to track because several sentences contain multiple claims without clear links. For example, the gems sentence moves from a decline to “gained 5.18% less,” which obscures the relationship between the chart and table. Paragraphing is also limited, with the overview and detailed reporting crowded together. Grouping rising categories separately from the declining or stable ones, and using clearer comparisons, would make the organisation more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “export values,” “generated highest earnings,” “decline,” and “substantial,” so the reader can recognise the subject and intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make meaning harder to follow. “Percentage chances” should be “percentage changes,” while “significant dawnward trend” appears to mean a downward trend but contradicts the data. Phrases such as “this sectors stading with highest income” and “had done substantial income” are not natural collocations. Spelling errors, including “petrolium,” “dollers,” and “obatined,” are noticeable. Aim for precise, conventional chart language and check spelling; this will help you describe trends without ambiguity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses linked with “while” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur frequently: “this sectors stading with highest income” lacks a correctly formed verb, and “it was increased to 60” uses an unsuitable passive construction. Agreement and articles are also problematic in phrases such as “the others sector” and “both of the year.” Punctuation and spacing need attention: the opening has no spaces after commas, and several sentences run together or use commas where a full stop is needed. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting in short sentences first, then combine ideas using controlled clauses.
