Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies some relevant broad features, including petroleum and engineered goods as major export categories and textiles as having the largest percentage increase. However, several key figures and trends are misread: gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, not “55 to 52%,” while agricultural exports were roughly stable at $31 billion rather than decreasing from 41 to 43%. The conclusion about farming tools and clothing companies is not supported by the chart, and the recommendation that the country improve cultivation tools is outside the task. The overview is therefore unreliable and the data coverage is limited. The response also falls 19 words short of the required minimum. Report the main comparisons accurately and avoid adding explanations or recommendations not shown by the visual.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the chart, the following sentences describe categories, and “In conclusion” signals an ending. Basic links such as “While” and “as compared to” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the conclusion introduces unsupported ideas rather than summarising the data. Some references are difficult to follow, as in “decreased the segment in these two years by 41 to 43,” and the relationship between the figures and the categories is not always explicit. Group the information into a clear overview and a paragraph comparing the figures, using accurate references such as “this category” only when the category is unmistakable. Avoid a separate recommendation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “export,” “dominant category,” “declined trend,” and “earning,” and it attempts to vary its descriptions. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unclear: “various proportions” does not describe the chart’s export values, “Germs” is an incorrect form of “Gems,” and “farming tools and clothe companies” misrepresents the categories. “Substantial fuels and mechanical elements” is also an imprecise way to refer to petroleum products and engineered goods. These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Use the chart’s category names consistently and choose straightforward, accurate terms such as “export earnings,” “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable” before attempting more elaborate phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison with “as compared to” and a sentence beginning “While.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “five different products which was exported” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “Agricultural products showed drastically decreased” combines verb forms incorrectly. In “Agricultural and textile products was least significant export,” agreement and article use are also faulty. The final sentence shifts into a recommendation without a clear grammatical link to the chart summary. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, especially agreement, articles, and verb forms; then build comparisons with structures such as “Textile earnings rose, whereas agricultural earnings remained stable.”
