Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar graph illustrates the differnt categories one country's export from 2015 to 2016, while the table gives information about proportion of every export category between 2015 and 2016.
Overall, earnings from export of all the products were higher in the later year compared to the previous year. Proportional changes in values icreased in petroleum, engineerring, agricultural, and textiles products, while it decreased in germs and gewllery.
Profit rates in petroliium products were approximately stood at same level in both the years that were 60, and about 61 billion dollor in 2015, and 2016 respectively, while in engineering goods earing rate styed at same level in 2016 but it decreased about 2 billion dollar in 2016. The derms and jewlleries export were at about 50 and 49 billion dollars in 2015 and 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart and table and attempt an overview, but the main trends and several figures are misreported, so the task is only partly addressed. The overview says all categories earned more in 2016, although gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, while agricultural exports stayed near $31 billion. The body also gives petroleum as roughly $60–61 billion, engineering as falling by about $2 billion, and gems as $50–49 billion; the chart instead shows petroleum rising from about $61 billion to $63 billion, engineering rising from $57 billion to $62 billion, and gems declining from $43 billion to $41 billion. Textiles rose from $26 billion to $31 billion, rather than falling. Select the largest changes and accurately distinguish increases, decreases and stable values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs. This gives the reader some organisation, and contrast markers such as “while” help signal comparisons. However, progression is limited because the body does not consistently group or compare the data, and several statements are difficult to follow—for example, the engineering sentence says earnings “stayed at same level” and then that they “decreased,” without a clear comparison. The overview also conflicts with the later claim that agricultural earnings were equal in both years. Use a clearer sequence, such as grouping the highest-value categories first and then the lower-value ones, and make each comparison explicit. More accurate linking and reference to the years would make the relationships easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “bar graph,” “categories,” “proportional changes” and “export,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make the report less clear. “Profit rates” and “profit margins” are not suitable for export values; “earnings” or “export values” would be more accurate. There are also noticeable misspellings, including “differnt,” “petroliium,” “engineerring” and “gewllery,” and the phrase “proportion of every export category” does not clearly describe the table’s percentage changes. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully, especially for category names and key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons joined with “while,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentence patterns are faulty: “Profit rates … were approximately stood” combines incompatible verb forms, and “in engineering goods earing rate styed at same level in 2016 but it decreased” lacks a clear grammatical comparison. Articles and prepositions are also often missing, as in “at same level” and “in both the years.” These errors, alongside awkward sentence construction, sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to interpret. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject, verb and time reference—for example, “Engineering exports rose from … to …”—and check articles, verb forms and punctuation.
