Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant trends, including the rise in textiles and the fall in gems and jewellery, but the response only minimally summarises the visual. The figures are also misassigned: 15.24% is the largest percentage increase, but it belongs to textiles, while petroleum rose by 3%, not 8.5%; engineered goods rose by 8.5%, not 3%. The chart’s dollar values are largely omitted, and there is no clear overview comparing the categories’ export earnings in 2015 and 2016. The claim that textiles generated the highest revenue is inaccurate: petroleum was highest in both years. The explanation about global-market attention and reliance on other exports is unsupported. The response is also 32 words below the required minimum. Include an accurate overview and key values, and avoid speculation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then uses “Furthermore” and “However” to signal additional information and contrast. The decline in gems is also separated from the growth points. However, the ideas do not progress through a clear comparison of the chart’s categories, and the paragraphing does not help distinguish an overview from supporting details. Several links are unclear or mechanically added, particularly “because of the reliance of other exports streams,” which does not establish a logical relationship. The final sentence combines a general claim about exports with an unsupported explanation about textiles. Group the main increases together, contrast them with the decline, and use linking phrases only where the relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “revenue streams,” “contribution,” “growth,” and “decline,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for describing a table and chart: “all time high revenue,” “following with,” and “getting huge attention” do not clearly report the data. “Exports revenue” and “exports earning” are also awkward collocations, while “texxtiles” is misspelled. Repetition of “exports” and “products” limits the range. Choose precise reporting language such as “recorded the largest percentage increase” and “export earnings,” and describe what the figures show rather than adding speculative market explanations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, using forms such as “However a decline can be seen…” and “because of…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “The chart demonstrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “There are different product category” has an incorrect plural form. The sentence beginning “From 2015-2016” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the long final sentence joins several ideas without effective punctuation. There are also missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and divide complex ideas into shorter sentences with clear punctuation.
