Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad pattern that most categories rose and that gems and jewellery fell, and you note that agricultural exports were nearly unchanged. However, several reported figures and trends conflict substantially with the chart: petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not $70–75 billion; engineered goods are about $57–62 billion, not $65–70 billion; and gems are about $43–41 billion, not $52–50 billion. The overview also says agriculture remained the same, while later you describe textiles as the largest change but give figures that do not match the chart. These inaccuracies and the limited, unclear comparisons mean the task is only partly addressed. Select the key figures carefully and distinguish the largest category from the largest percentage increase.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the categories. The overview gives the reader a useful starting point by identifying the general rise and the fall in gems and jewellery. However, progression within the detail is difficult to follow: petroleum and engineered goods are combined in one long sentence, then the remaining categories are introduced with loosely connected phrases such as “on the other hand,” “further add up,” and “moreover.” Some links do not clearly express the relationship between ideas, and the final comparison is hard to interpret. Group the categories by trend or importance, use shorter sentences, and make each paragraph develop one clear comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “contribution,” “decreased,” and “remained same,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. For example, “cash inflow in exports,” “net profit,” and “subtotal” are not suitable descriptions of export values, while “on center in order to contribution” is difficult to understand. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “comapares,” “enginnering,” and “jewelry.” Use precise chart language such as “export value,” “accounted for,” and “rose/fell by,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use time references such as “from 2015 to 2016,” but complex structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between figures difficult to follow. For instance, “petroleum products have the highest export earnings which is about…” has an unclear relative clause and agreement; “gems and jewelry net profit is around…” lacks a clear possessive structure; and “agricultural exported remained same” has problems with word form and sentence construction. Articles, verb forms, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “while agricultural products remained same in both years.” Build more accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses, and use full stops to separate comparisons.
