Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the five export categories and report the percentage changes, including the decrease in gems and jewellery, so the response contains some relevant information from the table. However, the task also presents export values for both years, and these figures are not reported; there is also no clear overview of the main patterns, such as the highest-value category or the contrast between rising and falling exports. The final sentence repeats the topic rather than summarising key features. The response is also 142 words, below the required 150-word minimum (12 words copied from the prompt were not counted). To improve, include a concise overview and compare the main 2015–2016 values as well as the percentage changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows a basic sequence, moving through the product categories, and linking expressions such as “Similarly” and “As well as” show an attempt to connect points. However, the writing is largely one continuous paragraph, so the overview and supporting details are not separated or clearly prioritised. Repeated openings such as “This tabel shows” make the progression mechanical, while “Actually we summarize” does not introduce a useful concluding comparison. Group the information into an introduction, an overview, and one or two detail paragraphs. Use references such as “the former” or “by contrast” only when their meaning is clear, and organise the figures around the main trends rather than listing each category in turn.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “category,” “increased,” and “decreased,” and the reader can generally identify the products being discussed. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, especially the repeated phrase “this tabel shows,” and several spelling errors reduce accuracy: “tabel,” “Petrolum,” “Petrolium,” and “catagories.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “those who have export value” and “there is a increase in textile value.” Use precise reporting language such as “export earnings,” “rose by,” and “recorded a decline.” Check spelling carefully and vary the verbs used to describe changes; this would make the account clearer and more appropriate to an academic data summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple present-tense reporting patterns, and the intended meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical errors occur frequently, including subject–verb agreement in “This tabel is also shows,” the article error in “there is a increase,” and inconsistent sentence boundaries where a full stop is followed immediately by “These.” The sentence “those who have export value 15.24%” also has an unclear grammatical structure, making the relationship between textiles and the percentage difficult to express. The response relies on repeated simple constructions and shows little control of more varied sentence forms. Practise accurate patterns such as “Textile exports rose by 15.24%” and combine comparisons using clauses like “while gems and jewellery declined.”
