Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main categories and make several accurate comparisons: petroleum products are highest in both years, textiles are lowest, and gems and jewellery decline by 5.18%. You also identify textiles as having the largest percentage increase and agricultural products as having the smallest. This addresses the task, but some details are less fully or clearly reported. For example, you say agricultural earnings were “approx same” without giving their approximate values, and the overview repeats the highest and lowest categories rather than summarising the overall pattern of mostly rising earnings, with gems as the exception. Make the overview more informative and support it with selected figures, such as petroleum rising from about $61 billion to $63 billion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, paragraphs describing the chart, a paragraph on percentage changes, and a concluding overview. Sequencing words such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” help signal movement between points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the relationship between the chart values and the table is not always easy to follow. The paragraph beginning “From table of Percentage change” lists each category in sequence, while the final “Overall” repeats information already stated rather than drawing the main trends together. Some references, such as “same as previous ones,” are unclear. Grouping the main increases together and contrasting them with the decline in gems would create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “percentage change,” “increment,” and “decrement,” and the category names are generally clear. This gives you an adequate range for describing the data. However, several choices are awkward or repetitive: “highest difference” and “which is huge” are imprecise, while “export earnings” is repeated frequently. Some phrasing, such as “ranked second among all other categories,” is unnecessarily wordy. Aim for more natural data-reporting collocations and precise verbs, such as “rose,” “fell,” or “remained stable.” Also check spelling and word forms, including “Petroleum” in mid-sentence and “agriculture” when referring to the category “agricultural products.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main comparisons are usually understandable. However, some errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation reduce accuracy. For example, “The given bar graph illustrate” needs a singular verb, and “the export earnings from Gems and jewellery it goes down” combines two sentence structures incorrectly. “There is seem to have” is also faulty, while “in both the year” needs a plural form. Several sentences begin with “And” or “the” after a full stop, and punctuation around the table description is inconsistent. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and sentence boundaries during revision.
