Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main categories and note that jewellery earnings fell while most others rose, but the response only partially reports the chart and table. Several key comparisons are inaccurate: petroleum had the highest earnings, but engineered goods—not petroleum—had the largest percentage increase (8.5% versus 3%). Textiles, not agricultural products, were the lowest in 2015; in 2016 textiles and agriculture were both about $31 billion. The jewellery figure is also misreported as $50 billion, rather than approximately $43 billion in 2015 and $41 billion in 2016. The overview is therefore unclear and some details are underdeveloped. The response is also 12 words below the required minimum. Include accurate figures and distinguish absolute earnings from percentage changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and a final paragraph of category details. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “looking at the table” and “moreover” attempt to connect points. However, progression is uneven: the overview says petroleum and engineered goods are the most valuable, then the details repeat rankings without a clear, consistent comparison. Several linking expressions are awkward or repetitive, including “also” and “also highest,” while “Endly” does not clearly signal the final comparison. Group the information more logically—for example, describe the two highest-earning categories together, then the lower categories—and use clear transitions to show contrasts and changes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “export,” “categories,” “percentage,” “drop” and “went up,” so the general topic is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or imprecise. “Most valueable” is repeated, “engin products” is unclear, and “highest value percentage” does not clearly express the largest percentage increase. Phrases such as “little drop down” and “second last in value” are also unnatural for describing data. Spelling errors such as “valueable” and “Endly” further reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate category names, using terms such as “earnings,” “rose,” “declined” and “percentage change” appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can generally follow the intended comparisons. There are attempts to combine ideas, for example, “All categories went up but jewellery product fall in 2016,” but verb forms and sentence construction are often inaccurate. The response shifts between present and past (“fall,” “was,” “went up”), and agreement is faulty in “jewellery product fall” and “Agricultural products was.” Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “the most valueable product” and “each categories.” Some sentence fragments or incomplete constructions appear, including “And the least valueable products are agricultural and textile products.” Use complete sentences, keep past-tense reporting consistent, and check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
