Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main high and low categories: petroleum products lead in both years, while textiles are among the lowest, and you attempt comparisons across the categories. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear. Gems and jewellery was about $43 billion in 2015 and $41 billion in 2016, not “more then $50 billion”; textiles were not the lowest in 2016, as agricultural products were also about $31 billion and textiles about $31 billion. The statement that agricultural products and textiles were the same in 2016 is broadly supported, but the claim that the graph fluctuated in 2015 is unclear. Include a clearer overview of the overall changes and report the key figures accurately to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs. Sequencing words such as “Overall,” “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal stages, and the reader can follow the broad category comparisons. However, progression is limited: the body paragraphs do not consistently group information by meaningful trends, and some links are unclear, particularly “then sales was more then $50 billion” and “the graph fluctured in the the year 2015.” The repeated use of “but” and “whereas” also makes connections feel mechanical. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, rising categories together and declining or stable categories together—and use precise references so it is always clear which category and year you mean.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “export,” “categories,” “billion” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to interpret. “Nation transports” does not accurately describe export earnings, while “third least transportation products” and “its sales” are unsuitable for the chart’s categories and values. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “illusturates,” “campare,” “tronsportaion” and “fluctured.” Aim for accurate, repeated-use terms such as “export value,” “earnings,” “rose,” “fell” and “remained stable.” More precise vocabulary would help you describe the data without relying on vague phrases such as “more higher.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “whereas,” “but” and “as compare to.” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, tense and sentence boundaries sometimes make the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “the petroleum products was” should use a plural verb, and “as compare to engineered goods” is not a complete, correctly formed comparison. Several sentences begin with a lowercase word after a full stop, and the final sentence combines multiple ideas without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate comparison sentences first, such as “Petroleum exports rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, while gems and jewellery fell.” Then vary the structures while maintaining correct verb forms and punctuation.
