Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad pattern that most export categories rose and that jewellery declined, and you note textiles as the strongest growth area. However, the response only partially reports the visual: it ends mid-sentence at “Then a very small difference in aggriculture f” and gives no complete account of the agricultural figures or the export values. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the chart shows engineered goods rising by about 8.5%, but this is not stated precisely, and “cosmetic industry” is not a category in the data; the decline is in gems and jewellery. The overview also says “approximately every category increased,” although agricultural exports were essentially unchanged at about $31 billion. The response is 29 words below the required minimum, which contributes to its limited coverage. Include a complete overview and compare key values and changes accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph. The overview signals the main trend, and phrases such as “Overall” and “First of all” help indicate the intended structure. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph lists categories without completing the agricultural point, and the response stops abruptly, leaving the comparison unfinished. Some linking is repetitive or imprecise, including repeated references to “2016” and “the only” decline. The opening also combines the graph and table in a way that does not clearly explain what each presents. Use a clear sequence—paraphrase, overview, then grouped comparisons—and connect each figure to the relevant category so the reader can follow the report without having to infer relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “exports,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “growth,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing this data. “Dispatch things” does not convey export categories, “clothing industry” is not the chart’s label (textiles is), and “cosmetic industry” misidentifies gems and jewellery. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “jewlery,” “eengineered,” and “aggriculture,” which make parts of the report harder to interpret. Aim for precise category names and standard data-reporting collocations, such as “export earnings rose” or “recorded a decline.” Avoid substituting a related-sounding industry for the category actually shown.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer structures, for example, “Approximately every category increased in 2016 accept jewlery because we can see a slight decrease in this type.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. The opening has a run-on structure, while “the ratio changed in 2016 is more then 2015” lacks a clear grammatical relationship. In “engineered goods began to high in 2016 then compare to 2015,” the verb pattern and comparison are not correctly formed. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, including the space before the comma-like apostrophe in “nationality ,s” and the capital after “Overall,”. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate comparative forms such as “was higher than” and “increased by.”
