Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the categories and give the broad trend that most export values rose while gems and jewellery fell, which is relevant to the task. However, the response only partially reports the visual data: it gives the 5.18% decline for gems but omits the other percentage changes and nearly all the export values, so the main comparisons are not established. The claim that the decline happened “because of some circumstances” and that buyers stopped purchasing is unsupported by the chart. The overview is also too general to highlight key features such as petroleum products being the highest-valued category or textiles showing the largest percentage increase. The response is 18 words below the required minimum; use the space to report accurate comparisons rather than speculate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response introduces the categories, then contrasts the fall in gems and jewellery with increases elsewhere. Linking expressions such as “So,” “because,” and “on the other hand” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one paragraph and does not progress through a clear overview and supporting comparisons. The explanation of why jewellery exports fell interrupts the data summary, and “but on other hand” does not clearly connect the unsupported explanation to the chart’s information. Organise the response into a brief introduction, an overview, and a paragraph comparing the figures. Use references such as “this category” only when their meaning is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “gems and jewellery,” and “export earnings,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, which can make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “export prices decreases” does not accurately describe the chart, which shows export values, and “Prices dropped in billions of exporting” is unclear. “Profitable time period” and “balanced the export earnings prices” are also imprecise descriptions of the data. Aim for accurate chart language such as “export value,” “rose by,” “fell by,” and “remained stable,” and avoid adding explanations that the visual does not provide.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses, for example in “because of some circumstances” and “hence the seller at that point faced some issues of finance.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors affect clarity. The opening fragment, “The one country's exports the categories such as…,” lacks a clear grammatical structure. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms in “each category increases” and “prices became low,” as well as missing or misplaced articles and punctuation. Practise writing complete, controlled sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Export values increased in four categories, while the value for gems and jewellery declined.” Check agreement and sentence boundaries when proofreading.
