Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies the chart and table and gives a broad overview: petroleum and engineered goods are described as the top earners, while textiles are called the lowest. However, the report is only partial and ends after the single detail that petroleum exports increased by 3%. It does not compare the remaining categories or report the key figures and trends, including the fall in gems and jewellery and the rise in textiles. The statement that agricultural products earned similarly is relevant, but it is not supported with figures. The required minimum length is not met, which contributes to the limited coverage. To improve, complete the report with selected comparisons from both years and the table, and ensure the overview reflects the main changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and the beginning of a detail paragraph. The overview also groups the categories by relative earnings, giving the reader a starting point. However, the response stops before the information is developed, so there is no clear progression through the categories or comparison of the two years. Linking is limited, with “Overall” and “To begin with” doing most of the organisational work, and the final paragraph contains only one detail. Develop a complete sequence—for example, compare the leading categories first, then the lower-value categories and their changes—and use clear references to connect each comparison. This would make the organisation more complete and easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “earning,” and “compared with,” and attempts to describe change with “increased.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “altreration,” “catergories,” and “eniginer goods.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “least earn in export” and “percentage were in billions”; the chart values are in billions, whereas the table gives percentage changes. Use accurate category names and standard collocations such as “export earnings,” “recorded the lowest value,” and “percentage change.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms would make the limited vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few longer sentence forms, including the overview’s contrast between the leading categories and the other exports. However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “The bar chart illustrates valueof a countrys exports” lacks necessary spacing and possessive marking, while “petroleum products and Enginering goods had the highest earning in both year” has problems with number agreement. The final sentence, “petroleum products between 2015 and 2016 increaed by 3%,” is incomplete because it lacks a clear subject or verb construction for the change. Practise complete comparative sentences, accurate plurals and consistent punctuation.
