Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main overall pattern: most categories rose, while gems and jewellery declined, and you correctly note petroleum products as the highest-earning category in both years. The figures of 3% for petroleum and 8.5% for engineered goods also match the table. However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence at “showed a dra…”, so several categories and comparisons are not reported, including the fall in gems and jewellery and the changes in agricultural products and textiles. The overview also incorrectly says every other category increased, since agricultural exports were approximately unchanged in the chart. The response is 111 words, below the required 150, which further limits coverage and development. Add a complete account of the key figures and trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic structure, with an introduction followed by an overview and some supporting details. The overview gives the reader a useful starting point, and the discussion of petroleum and engineered goods follows a sensible order. However, the response ends abruptly during the textile comparison, so there is no clear conclusion to the sequence of details and the remaining categories are omitted. Connections between ideas are also limited: most information is presented in separate statements without transitions that show how the categories compare. Develop a complete body paragraph covering the remaining figures, and use clear links such as “by contrast” for the decline in gems and jewellery and “meanwhile” for categories with little change.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “highest earnings,” “increase,” and “downfall,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to use more precise language, such as “significant increase.” However, several word choices and forms are inaccurate or unnatural: “export earning” should be plural or phrased as “export earnings,” “most grossing sector” is not a natural collocation, and “dramatical increase” uses the wrong form. “Texile” is misspelled, and “sector” is repeated where “category” or “product group” would be more precise. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling, especially in key category names.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes a few sentence forms beyond simple statements, such as the overview beginning “Overall” and the relative clause “which experienced a slight downfall.” However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement. For example, “The bar chart illustrate” needs a singular verb, while “The earnings … is” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The phrase “the engineered good is at the second most grossing sector” is structurally difficult to follow, and “the textile sector showing” is not a complete clause. The final sentence is also unfinished. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense consistently when describing the two years.
