Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern that most export categories increased while gems and jewellery declined, and you correctly highlight textiles as having the largest percentage rise and agriculture as the smallest. You also report the percentage changes accurately. However, the response gives little comparison of the actual export values shown in the bar chart: for example, petroleum earnings were highest in both years, while textiles rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion. The claim that agricultural products rose is not clearly supported by the chart values, which are approximately $31 billion in both years, despite the table’s small positive change. The explanation that gems fell “due to some lack of interest” is invented and should be omitted. A clearer overview and more precise use of chart figures would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a generally understandable sequence: it moves through the categories and ends with an overall comparison. Linking expressions such as “Overall” and “In case of profit” signal a summary, and the reader can follow the broad trend. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph, with no clear separation between an overview and supporting details. Several transitions are awkward or repetitive, and the category-by-category sequence does not consistently compare the two years. For example, the discussion shifts from petroleum to engineering and then to gems without grouping the increases against the single decline. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by logically grouped comparisons, and use clearer references to the chart and table.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “decline,” “increase,” and “percentage,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “significant increase in trend.” This gives you enough range to communicate the main trends, but several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. “Profit” is repeatedly used where “export value” or “earnings” is intended, and “profit climbs the figure” does not express the data clearly. There are also spelling errors, including “jewellary,” “perecentage,” and “textlies,” which reduce precision. Prefer standard chart language such as “rose to,” “fell to,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid unsupported phrases such as “lack of interest by the exporters.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “Overall if we compare…” and “where remarkable downfall…,” so there is some variety. The main trends remain understandable, but some grammatical errors make the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Maximum revenue has been seen” uses an awkward tense and passive construction, while “its income increases 8.5% more than following year” has an unclear time relationship and sentence structure. Articles, plurals, and agreement also need attention, as in “different category” and “all category.” Use consistent past-tense reporting for the 2015–2016 figures, and build complete, direct sentences—for example, “Engineering goods earned about $57 billion in 2015 and $62 billion in 2016, an increase of 8.5%.”
