Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main direction of change in each category, including the rise in textiles and the fall in gems and jewellery, and you include the percentage changes shown in the table. However, the response focuses almost entirely on those percentages rather than summarising the export values in the bar chart. It also lacks a clear overview of the main pattern across both years. The claim that textiles gave “much profit” and that gems caused a “loss” is not supported: the chart reports export earnings, not profit or loss. Include key values or comparisons—for example, petroleum products remained the largest category, while textiles rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion—and distinguish earnings from percentage change.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows a recognisable sequence through the five categories, using markers such as “On the other hand,” “Next,” and “At last.” This helps readers follow the list, but the organisation is repetitive and does not build towards a clear overview or comparison of the chart’s main features. The final paragraph introduces a ranking of “profit” without explaining how it relates to the figures, and “By summing up” does not accurately signal a summary of the data. Group the categories by pattern—for instance, the largest earners, the strongest increase, and the sole decline—and use a separate overview before the details. This would create clearer progression and more purposeful cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant category names and some task-related terms, including “percentage,” “increased,” and “fell,” so the basic meaning is generally understandable. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing export data. “Gave much profit” and “a bit loss” confuse export earnings with business profit or loss, while “increased quite good” and “increased with good percentage” are awkward collocations. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “demonstrationg,” “differnt,” and “benefial.” Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling; terms such as “export earnings,” “rose,” “declined,” and “recorded the largest increase” would suit this task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences use a simple pattern, often beginning with a category followed by “whose” and a change, so the range of structures is limited. Attempts at more complex phrasing are not consistently controlled: “As from the first product given is petroleum” has an unclear clause structure, and “whose exporting percentage fell with time” does not form a natural grammatical description of the data. There are also errors in tense and agreement, as in “it is increased,” and the final sentence, “Gems and jewellery are the only product,” has a plural subject with a singular complement. Practise clear comparative sentences, such as “Textile earnings rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion,” and check articles, agreement, and verb forms.
