Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You provide an overview that identifies the main contrast: most categories rose, while gems and jewellery fell, and textiles recorded the strongest growth. You also include several relevant figures and percentage changes. However, some data are inaccurate or unclear: engineered goods rose from about $57 billion to $62 billion, but the response gives no values; petroleum exports are described only as “$60 billion” without clearly distinguishing both years; and the agricultural figure is reported as increasing from $30 billion to $31 billion, although the chart shows approximately $31 billion in both years. The final comparison also conflicts with this, since textiles and agriculture were both about $31 billion in 2016. The response is six words below the required minimum. Include clearer, accurate comparisons to cover the data more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introductory sentence, an overview, and a paragraph of details. The overview helps the reader identify the broad trends before the figures are presented. However, the detailed paragraph moves between categories without a clear organising principle, and some links between statements are awkward, such as “In engineered goods there was rise” followed by the gems comparison. The final sentence repeats the agriculture and textiles comparison but contradicts the earlier figures, weakening the progression. Use a consistent sequence—such as largest exports to smallest, or increases followed by the decline—and connect related comparisons more clearly. This would make the overall arrangement easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “export,” “increased,” “declined,” “rise,” and “approximately,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “increased rapidly” and “declined,” though some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “had inclined drastically” does not express the intended trend, and “proportions of country's export” is not an appropriate description of the chart. Spelling errors such as “categoies” and inconsistent forms such as “agriculture products” reduce precision. Aim for accurate collocations and use “export earnings” or “export values” consistently. A more precise vocabulary range would help you describe changes without relying on vague wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview contrast “increased in 2016 except…” and comparisons using “from…to…”. Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “there was $60 billion export” needs an article and a more suitable construction, while “The least increase was reported in an agricultural products” has problems with both the article and plural agreement. The sentence “The export of an agriculture products and textiles…was same” also contains errors in articles, agreement, and sentence structure. Review articles, singular/plural forms, and verb agreement, and proofread punctuation and spacing. More consistently accurate sentences would make your comparisons clearer.
