Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies the chart and table and gives one relevant overview point: petroleum products had the highest export value in both years. However, it does not summarise the main changes or compare the categories, and it reports none of the figures or percentage changes shown. Important features—such as textiles rising markedly, gems and jewellery declining, and agricultural exports remaining almost unchanged—are omitted. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To improve, include a fuller overview and select key figures and trends from both the chart and table, rather than stopping after the introduction and one general observation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic, understandable sequence: an introductory sentence describes the two visuals, followed by a separate overview beginning with “Overall”. This gives the response some paragraph structure and a clear starting point. However, the progression ends almost immediately, with no body paragraphs to organise comparisons or develop the information. The link “Moreover” is not especially useful here because the table is part of the task description rather than an additional argument. Build a logical structure with an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs grouping the main increases, decreases, and stable figures. Use linking expressions to show those relationships clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “bar chart”, “percentage change”, “value” and “categories”, so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is narrow and several choices or forms are inaccurate: “export” is used where the plural “exports” is needed, and “the data is categorized into 5 different types” is vague and adds little information. There are also spelling errors in “comapred” and “En” is not relevant here, but the misspelling in the text is. Aim for precise terms such as “export earnings”, “rose”, “fell” and “remained stable”, and use the category names accurately to describe the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response contains two complete sentences and uses a basic contrast of time in “during 2015 and 2016” and “in 2016 as compared to 2015”. Meaning remains understandable, but grammatical control is weakened by subject–verb agreement: “bar chart illustrate” should be “bar chart illustrates”, and “the table demonstrate” should be “the table demonstrates”. The phrase “one country's export” also needs a plural form or a different construction, such as “one country’s exports”. Sentence structures are simple and repetitive, with little evidence of a wider range. Practise accurate agreement and plural forms, then add comparison sentences using structures such as “while” and “whereas”.
