Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visuals and attempt an overview, noting that petroleum products are highest and that textiles show a large change. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: agricultural products were not among the lowest in 2015, and the table shows the largest percentage increase for textiles, not a general “big change” without a clear comparison. Several figures and categories are confused. For example, engineered goods rose from about $57 billion to $62 billion, but the response says the 2015 value was “below 6”; the table’s 3% and 8.5% figures are assigned to the wrong categories, and 15.24% is incorrectly attributed to agriculture. Select the main trends accurately and support them with correctly matched figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow, and several linking expressions are inaccurate or awkward, including “Regarding to,” “Folowing by,” “According, to,” and “At last.” The final sentence also ends with the unclear phrase “in 2015 and 16,” leaving the comparison incomplete. Use straightforward transitions such as “For the bar chart” and “Turning to the table,” and group the figures in a consistent order. Clearer links between each category and its value would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “exports,” “value,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “percentage change,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret: “petrolium,” “bi ions,” “litely,” and “Folowing” appear in the description. Phrases such as “the table chart” and “stood at below” are also unnatural for reporting data, while “big change” is imprecise. Aim for accurate category names and standard reporting collocations, such as “export earnings stood at,” “rose to,” and “recorded the largest increase.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding repeated, vague wording would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some complex sentence forms, including the opening contrast with “While,” but control is inconsistent and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “petrolium stood … but show litely increase” has problems with verb form and article use, and “in 2015 had below 6 bi ions” lacks a clear subject and comparison. The overview fragment beginning “While textiles…” is not a complete sentence, and the final sentence is incomplete. Most descriptions rely on short, loosely connected clauses rather than controlled comparisons. Practise complete sentences with accurate past-tense verbs, for example, “Petroleum exports rose slightly from $61 billion to $63 billion.”
