Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visuals and attempt an overview, noting that petroleum products and engineered goods are among the largest categories and that textiles show the greatest percentage change. However, several key details are misreported, which limits how fully the task is addressed. For example, engineered goods rose from about $57 billion to $62 billion, not from “6 billions,” and the table gives petroleum products a 3% change, not 8.5%; engineered goods have the 8.5% change. Gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion, rather than staying the same. Give a clear overview of the main rises and fall, then check each figure and category against the visual. (Ten words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about the chart, and one about the table. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and linking expressions are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive. For instance, “Regarding,” and “Followed by,” do not connect the following information grammatically, while “While” begins both the introduction and overview without a clear contrast. The chart paragraph also moves between categories without a consistent comparison. Grouping the main increases together, then describing the decline and stable category, would create a clearer progression. Use linking words only where their relationship between ideas is precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage,” “category,” and “recorded,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “categary,” “petrolium,” “engin goods,” and “eergems.” Some expressions are also unnatural for describing data: “the highest categary recorded” and “the higher change in textiles” do not clearly state what the figures show. Use accurate category names and standard chart language such as “export earnings,” “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable.” Check spelling carefully, especially for repeated labels, and choose precise phrases rather than relying on “high” and “low.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison beginning “While” and a sentence using “According to the chart.” However, complex structures are often incomplete or faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. The opening “While the table shows…” is a dependent clause without a main clause. In “the highest categary recorded petrolium products,” the sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the agriculture products and textiles were both lowest bars” has problems with articles and sentence construction. Punctuation also disrupts flow, as in “Regarding,” and “Followed by,”. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses using “while,” “whereas,” or “although.”
