Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart and table and attempt an overview, noting that petroleum exports are highest and textiles are the category with the largest percentage increase. However, the response only partially reports the main features, and some details are inaccurate: textiles rise from about 26 to 31 billion, not from nearly 30 to 40, while agricultural exports are roughly unchanged rather than showing a large drop. The overview also calls textiles the lowest category without specifying that this applies to 2015; in 2016, agricultural products are about equal to textiles. Several categories and changes are omitted, including gems and jewellery. The response is 14 words below the required minimum. Include a fuller, accurate comparison of the categories and their trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall” and “To begin with” signal the intended stages. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is difficult to follow: the discussion moves from petroleum to textiles and then engineered goods without a clear comparison, and the final paragraph ends abruptly with “and no value hanged.” Some linking words, including “however” and “In addition,” do not clearly show the relationship between the information that follows. Organise the details into a consistent comparison—for example, increases first, then the decline and near-stable categories—and use transitions that accurately express those relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage,” “category,” and “increases,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “highest bi ions had the petroleum products,” “the pluged in textiles,” and “high demand” for a change in export value. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “comparies,” “approximantly,” “precentage,” and “largly.” Choose precise terms for describing figures and trends, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a category as having the highest export value, and say that a figure rose or remained stable rather than using unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison introduced by “however,” but control is weak and errors frequently make the relationships between figures hard to understand. Examples include “the Petroleum products had rose,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “The bar graph demonstrates … 2015 to 2016.The table,” where punctuation and spacing are faulty. Articles, agreement and sentence construction are also inconsistent, as in “the highest … had” and “Most product modification … is Textiles.” Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Petroleum exports rose from about 61 to 63 billion.” Then check tense, articles and punctuation before submitting.
