Student answer (Band 5.5)
Women's status in many societies has greatly increased over the past 50 years. But gender bias still exists in many cultures and societies. This essay will provide the reasons of my favour in this regard.
Women's position in society has greatly changed, as they can now achieve any level of education they desire, do jobs, get financial stability, and access many other opportunities that were restricted in the past. Over the years, women are getting strong, they can learnt to survive alone without any physical or mental demand. For example, in the past, women were limited to the home, unable to travel alone, and had low self-esteem, but with the advancement of time, they can now get an education and do whatever they desire. In today's time, women are confident in every aspect; they are getting higher education, doing work in male-dominated environments, and travelling alone.
But still, her role is not as recognized. There is still male dominance in many areas; there is a pay gap between men and women. Men are getting more pay than women at the same level. Women have to look after kids, perform household chores, and still face gender inequality. In many job vacancies, men are preferred over women. Women are being suppressed in many areas of society.
In conclusion, society should recognize the role of women and end this gender bias.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the central issue by describing both improvements in women’s opportunities and continuing inequality, and your conclusion calls for society to recognise women’s contributions. However, your position on the extent of agreement is not fully explicit: “This essay will provide the reasons of my favour” is unclear, and the response does not consistently state whether you agree that equality has not yet been achieved. Several points, such as the pay gap, household responsibilities and hiring preferences, are relevant but asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The response is also 22 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasoning. State your position directly and extend key points with explanation or evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on progress, a paragraph on continuing inequality, and a conclusion. This makes the main contrast easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes list-like, particularly in the sequence about education, work, financial stability and other opportunities. The repeated use of “But” to introduce the contrast also makes linking feel basic, while “In today’s time” and “Over the years” do not always clarify how ideas relate. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as in “her role,” after the discussion has referred to women generally. Use a wider range of precise links and organise each body paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “gender bias,” “male-dominated environments,” “pay gap,” and “gender inequality.” These expressions help communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and some wording is repetitive or imprecise, especially repeated references to women’s “position” and “society.” Phrases such as “reasons of my favour,” “women are getting strong,” and “in today’s time” are not natural collocations and can make the argument less clear. Aim for more precise language when describing social change and inequality, and avoid repeating broad terms when a specific expression is available. For example, distinguish between equal pay, access to leadership, and the unequal distribution of unpaid care work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, and most of the message remains understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in verb forms and sentence construction. In “they can learnt to survive,” the modal “can” should be followed by the base form, and “Over the years, women are getting strong” uses an awkward tense pattern for a change over time. The sentence beginning “For example, in the past…” also shifts between past and present in a way that could be controlled more carefully. There is some variety, but many sentences rely on straightforward statements or lists. Practise accurate modal constructions and consistent tense choices, then use a few well-controlled complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
