Student answer (Band 7.0)
Over the past decade, women have made remarkable progress in education, employment, politics and other areas of society. However, despite these significant achievements, i strongly agree that true gender equality has not yet been fully attained. While legal rights have improved cosiderably, women continue to face discrimination and unequal opportunities in many aspects of life.
One major reason why gender equality has been fully achieved is the persistent gap in the workplace. Although women now occupy positions that were once dominated by men, they are still under estimated by senior leadership roles and often earn less than men for comparable work. In many counties, women are also expected to balance demanding careers with the majority of household and childcare responsibilities. This unequal distribution of domestic work limits their career advancement and financial independence.
Another area where inequality remains is social and cultural attitudes. In some societies, traditional beliefs continue to discourage women from persuing higher education, leadership positions, or careers in science and technology. Furthermore, issues such as gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination remain a widespread. Even in countries with strong laws protecting women's right, these problems continue to affect many women's safety, confidence and opportunities.
To sum up, although women's status has improved drastically over the last fifty years, complete gender equality has not yet been achieved. Continued efforts by governments, employers and society are necessary to eliminate the remaining barriers and ensure equal opportunities for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding the workplace and social attitudes are relevant and well-supported. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development for the arguments provided. While the main points are clear, the under-length nature of the response prevents it from fully exploring the complexity of the issue, leading to a slight penalty in this criterion. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph includes more detailed examples or a more thorough analysis to comfortably exceed the word count.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Although', 'Furthermore', and 'To sum up' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. The structure is coherent, and the paragraphing is appropriate. To improve, you could vary the cohesive devices further to avoid repetitive structures and ensure that the transition between the workplace argument and the social attitude argument feels even more seamless.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'remarkable progress', 'persistent gap', and 'drastically'. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'cosiderably' instead of 'considerably', 'counties' instead of 'countries', and 'persuing' instead of 'pursuing'. Additionally, the phrase 'under estimated by senior leadership roles' is slightly awkward; 'underrepresented in' would be more precise. Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your ideas clearly and with some sophistication. Focusing on proofreading for spelling and refining collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of 'Although' and 'While' clauses to create complex sentences. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'One major reason why gender equality has been fully achieved' (which contradicts your argument) and 'remain a widespread' (should be 'remain widespread'). Punctuation is generally accurate, though there is a minor error with the lowercase 'i' in 'i strongly agree'. The majority of sentences are clear and error-free, but the occasional slips prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will improve your performance.
