Student answer (Band 7.0)

Gender equality has been a debate in various part of the world for decades. Women's contribution in society has evolved substantially over time, although in many places around the world women's still struggle to get the equal treatment as men.

In this fast pacing world it is very normalized for women to work simultaneously with men in all sectors. It may seem like "equality" on books, but a woman in her workplace, and even at home gets overlooked for many major attributes. For instance, in big business a woman's decision making skills may get judged over if compared to a man's. In many countries, in households when it comes to taking any important decision, a woman's say gets ignored, leaving it as just a mere opinion.

Even though a women's role in society has may have changed in places, nonetheless some people still look down on women, and they tend to seem to priorities a man opinion and actions. In a recent article, it has been seen that women's get sexually harassed in workplaces 80% of times in compared to men. Also, gender equality shouldn't just apply in job sectors only. Women in societies deserve to feel the same level to safety as men while travelling and staying at home. In many surveys, it has been noted that a woman doesn't feel safe stepping outside their home past midnight. Even as a woman myself, gender discrimination and harassment has unfortunately been a constant despite the change of position in surroundings.

I firmly agree with the fact that, in terms of equality and equity, a society stills lacks to give women an adequate safe non-discriminate space to truly flourish and feel safe in their surrounds.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your position that gender equality has not been achieved. You provide relevant examples, such as workplace discrimination and safety concerns, to support your argument. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of '80% of times' lacks context or source credibility, and some points, like the decision-making aspect, could be expanded with more specific detail to reach a higher band. The response is consistent in its focus, but the depth of analysis remains at a general level rather than exploring the nuances of the societal shift over the last 50 years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'For instance,' 'Even though,' and 'In a recent article,' which help guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with pronoun usage (e.g., 'they tend to seem to priorities a man opinion'). Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated and varied to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantially,' 'normalized,' and 'discrimination.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'fast pacing world' (should be 'fast-paced'), 'on books' (should be 'on paper'), and 'non-discriminate space' (should be 'non-discriminatory'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of precision. To improve, focus on collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully convey your meaning, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('women's still struggle,' 'women's get sexually harassed'), incorrect pluralization ('a man opinion'), and punctuation errors. These errors are noticeable and occur consistently, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over basic grammar, particularly with possessives and plural forms, and increase the variety of error-free complex structures.
