Student answer (Band 6.0)
The role of women has significantly changed over the last 50 years. Today, women have more freedom and better opportunities than before. However, I agree that most societies have not achieved complete gender equality because women still face many problems in daily life and at work.
On the one hand, women have now freedom to study in schools and universities, get good jobs and take part in politics. In several countries women work as doctors, teachers, engineers and business owners. They can become leaders of companies or even governments. These transformations show that women's lives have improved greatly compared to the past.
However, there are still many differences between men and women. One common problem is that women often earn less money than men for doing the same job. Another issue is that many women have to look after their children and do most of the house chores, even if they have full-time job. Because of these responsibilities, it is harder for some women to get higher position at work. In some countries, girls and women also do not have the same rights as men, especially in education and employment.
I believe that governments should make stronger laws to provide equal pay and job opportunities for everyone. Families should also share household work so that both men and women have the same chance to build successful careers.
In conclusion, although women made great progress in the last fifty years, full gender equality has not been achieved yet. Therefore, I agree that more work is needed to make society fair for both men and women.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that acknowledges progress while arguing that equality remains elusive. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, such as the mention of the gender pay gap and the 'double burden' of domestic responsibilities. However, the development is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the societal structures that perpetuate these inequalities. The position is consistent throughout the response, and the conclusion effectively summarises your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the progress made versus the remaining challenges. Cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'Therefore' are used effectively to guide the reader. While the flow is generally smooth, the transition between ideas could be slightly more sophisticated to avoid a somewhat mechanical feel. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'gender equality', 'transformations', and 'responsibilities'. However, the range is somewhat limited and relies on fairly common language. To improve, try to incorporate more precise or academic collocations. For example, instead of 'get good jobs', you could use 'secure professional positions'. There are no significant spelling errors, and the word choices are generally accurate, though they lack the variety required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are clear and easy to follow. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'women have now freedom' (should be 'now have the freedom') and 'get higher position' (should be 'get higher positions'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over articles and pluralisation. To achieve a higher score, aim for a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, while maintaining high accuracy.
