Student answer (Band 6.0)
I do agree with this statement. It is an exemplary fact that the role of women in many societies has evolved a huge amount over the past 50 years. From being shackled to the chains of the male-dominated world back then, women barely had the freedom to get out of their homes, let alone have the freedom to do as they wish. As the years went by, women slowly but surely began being a part of chores that earlier were only reserved for men. After all, the intellectual of a women cannot be undermined. Women grew restless and sought out for their freedom of rights. Education played a huge role in this as well, as more and more women became educated, the more they contributed to the society and made huge advancements that no man had ever accomplished. And now we see women almost at the same pedestal as men. However, I still believe that gender equality has not been achieved. The role of women is still considered to be that of a 'care giver' whilst a man's role is that of a 'provider'. A woman could be a CEO at the most reputable company and yet when she bears a child, she is questioned - 'how do you manage your work and your children?' This particular question would never be subjected to a man, even if the child is just as much as the father's as he is of the mother. This is a preconceived notion engraved into us through generations and it is something that would take another 50 years to overcome.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating an agreement with the premise that gender equality has not been fully achieved. The ideas are relevant and supported by a clear example regarding the double standards faced by working mothers. However, the essay is somewhat brief and could benefit from further development of the arguments. For instance, the transition from historical context to the current situation is a bit abrupt. While the position is clear throughout, more detailed exploration of why equality remains elusive in other sectors beyond the workplace would have strengthened the response and moved it into a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized, moving from a historical perspective to a contemporary analysis. Paragraphing is used, though the response is essentially one long block of text, which makes it harder to follow. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'However' and 'After all', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the lack of distinct paragraph breaks between the introduction, body, and conclusion limits the score. To improve, ensure that each distinct idea is separated into its own paragraph to guide the reader through the argument more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. There are some good collocations and phrases, such as 'preconceived notion' and 'male-dominated world'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'the intellectual of a women' (should be 'intellect') and 'no man had ever accomplished' (which is a sweeping generalization). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding the range of academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the intellectual of a women' (singular/plural mismatch) and 'the child is just as much as the father's as he is of the mother' (clunky phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The punctuation is generally correct, but the sentence variety could be improved by using more sophisticated subordinate clauses to link ideas more fluidly. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage.
