Student answer (Band 5.5)
Over the past 50 years, there are many efforts done to bring gender equality in the societies. However, it is commonly believed that communities have not achieved gender equality yet. I strongly agree with the statement because in almost every professional institute, highest posts are given to male community and staff is reluctant to give women power to rule. Moreover, women are still victim of gender stereotypes.
Firstly, it is seen that in every area of life, women are allowed to do the jobs and generate incomes. But, they face barriers to get promoted. Only a few male staff is agreed to work under a women. As a result, women are forced to work as an employee rather than a supervisor. For example, the population of presidents and prime ministers of the countries of the world are mainly comprised of male gender. Just a mere amount of women are ruling over a country.
Secondly, not only the household chores are seen as a duty of females only but also they are responsible for raising the kids. It is a common belief that men can only fulfill the financial needs of a household while women are cooking. cleaning, and washing; overall maintaining the home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 203 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay ends abruptly without a conclusion. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments regarding professional barriers and domestic roles are under-developed. To reach a higher band, you must provide a full conclusion and expand on your supporting examples. For instance, the point about 'gender stereotypes' is mentioned but not sufficiently explored or linked back to the prompt's core argument about the lack of true gender equality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to organize ideas, which provides a logical structure. However, the progression is interrupted by the lack of a concluding paragraph, which leaves the argument feeling incomplete. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your thesis statement.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on somewhat repetitive phrasing, such as 'gender equality' and 'household chores'. There are also minor collocation errors, such as 'highest posts are given to male community' (should be 'men' or 'the male population') and 'mere amount of women' (should be 'small number of women'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated academic vocabulary and collocations related to social issues and workplace dynamics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'there are many efforts done' (should be 'have been many efforts made') and 'women are still victim' (should be 'victims'). Punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in 'cooking. cleaning, and washing', also occur. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of consistent control over complex structures limits your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
