Student answer (Band 5.5)

Most people argue that position of women has changed a lot in societies in the pervious 50 years.

But these could not achieve gender equality.

I completely, agree with the fact that society has changed a lot in todays world and the major change that took place is related to women and more people are educated in todays world as compared to the past the reason may be social media influence or other successful people who encourage youngsters to strive for education and claim a degree which they say would facilitate them in the job market a lot. For example, in todays trends women are way more ambitious than men and would rather earn their own keep instead of being a house wife and wasting away their life at home. Its mostly because they want to accomplish something big in life. In the same way most people who influenced other women for success are highly capable women in the fields of research , science , technology ,military and

medical fields.

Secondly, the problem with gender equality got misunderstood women who would rather stay at home and raise children get called gold diggers or another term used for this situation is called feminisim.

Most of todays population got the wrong idea about becoming independent . If it means that women need to do everything that men do then it is highly likely that any men will ever try to understand what a wife is and how to treat her the right way.

Right to education was both for men and women but maybe we took it too far when women stated to do jobs that was way too taxing for their bodies

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging the changes in women's status and the lack of full equality. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The first body paragraph focuses on education and ambition, but the second paragraph introduces confusing and somewhat contradictory arguments regarding 'gold diggers' and the definition of feminism. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and logical consistency. Some points, such as the claim that women doing 'taxing' jobs is taking equality 'too far', are underdeveloped and lack sufficient explanation or evidence to support the argument effectively. The essay would benefit from a more balanced and structured exploration of the barriers to gender equality.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between and within them is weak. While transition words like 'Secondly' are used, the flow of ideas is often disjointed. For instance, the transition from discussing women's ambition to the misunderstanding of feminism is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical rather than fluid. The concluding sentence is abrupt and does not effectively summarise the argument or provide a final thought, leaving the essay feeling incomplete. Improved use of linking phrases and clearer topic sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'society', 'women', and 'change'. Some word choices are imprecise or informal, such as 'wasting away their life' and 'earn their own keep'. There are also minor errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'pervious' instead of 'previous' and 'feminisim'. To improve, the student should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to social issues and gender dynamics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most people who influenced other women... are'), punctuation errors (e.g., missing commas, incorrect use of apostrophes), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'if it means that women need to do everything that men do then it is highly likely that any men will ever try to understand'). The lack of control over complex structures limits the clarity of the arguments. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading for grammatical accuracy is necessary.
