Student answer (Band 6.0)
It can be agreed upon that, the position of women has changed a great deal in many societies over the past 50 years. On paper, we provided women were provided with all constitutional and human rights same as men, and provisions were made to ensure that , women must not face any sort of gender based discrimination in their workplaces, in public places etc.
Regardless of that, these societies do not claim to have achieved gender equality . Lets us first of all look upon the definition of gender equality . Gender Equality can be summarized as equal treatment of men and women in front of the law , and in the society . In practice, women receive equal treatment to men in front of law . But in the society , this does not happen . For example the law states that , education is the fundamental right of a human being regardless of gender. Nonetheless, in many societies women are not allowed to receive education or go to work . However there is another form of inequality faced by women , that most people do not think about it . In some societies , women are allowed to receive education and work outside just like men along with that , they are also expected to take care of household chores which men are exempted as per the society . This type of situation looks like one where women are being treated equal to men since they're allowed to work outside, but the inequality stills exists . Here , men should also equally take part in the household chores perhaps to ensure the gender equality.
These types of situations cannot be improvised by some law or some provisions , perhaps these practices exists due to the prolonged existing system of patriarchy . This patriarchy was abolished in paper , but still runs in the mindset of the people and was passed down through generations . The only way to prevent this is by spreading awareness and making more and more people educated about gender equality and importance of women in our society .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt well, clearly stating a position that while legal progress has been made, gender equality remains elusive. The ideas are relevant, particularly the distinction between legal rights and societal expectations regarding domestic labor. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the argument regarding the 'double burden' of work and home is strong, but the discussion on education could be more nuanced. The essay maintains a consistent position throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that examples are more specific and that the analysis of the 'patriarchy' is linked more explicitly to the lack of progress in gender equality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the repetitive use of 'in front of the law' and 'in the society'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'this type of situation looks like one where...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow and coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language like 'constitutional and human rights', 'gender-based discrimination', and 'patriarchy'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'improvised by some law' (where 'addressed' or 'remedied' would be more appropriate) and 'exempted as per the society'. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and avoid repeating basic phrases, aiming for a more sophisticated academic tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in punctuation, particularly with comma placement (e.g., 'It can be agreed upon that, the...'). There are also minor grammatical slips, such as 'these practices exists' (subject-verb agreement) and 'abolished in paper' (preposition error). The use of articles is occasionally inconsistent. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and standardizing punctuation would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
