Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that the role of women has changed significantly in some societies since five decades. However, others argue that these societies have not achieved equality between genders. I totally agree with this view because many people still consider women to be weak.
On the one hand, education has played a vital role in changing the position of women in the societies. The girls enjoyed a privilege of formal education which was not possible earlier. They attended schools and universities and completed their graduation, while gaining knowledge on different subjects. As a result, they were able to develop a new perspective about life and especially work. For instance, many women have enrolled themselves in jobs, businesses, social organisations such as NGO's and many others. In this way they are contributing in economic and technological developments of a nation.
On the other hand, many people have not changed their perspective about women over the years. In many societies, superstitions such as female foeticide is still prevalent today. They consider girl child as a burden. Also, many individuals believe that women are only good for performing household chores, taking care of children, and are not eligible for doing other outdoor jobs. Due to this mentality, there is a wide gap between number of working men and women in many employment types. For instance, in many businesses and jobs, there are fewer women at the top managerial positions such as CEO's and MD. Furthermore, there is a smaller number of women working in police department as IPS and IAS officers.
In conclusion, though education has improved the position of women, people's biased perspective about women has resulted in gender inequality in many societies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The introduction establishes a stance, and the body paragraphs provide relevant arguments regarding education and societal attitudes. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of 'NGO's' and 'IPS/IAS officers' is specific but could be better integrated into a broader discussion of global gender equality. The conclusion is brief and summarizes the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your examples with more analytical depth rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the transition between the positive impact of education and the persistence of negative societal attitudes is well-managed. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some referencing is slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prevalent,' 'superstitions,' and 'managerial positions' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'since five decades' (should be 'for the past five decades') and 'enjoyed a privilege of' (should be 'enjoyed the privilege of'). While you attempt some less common vocabulary, the overall range is sufficient but not particularly sophisticated. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing when discussing societal roles.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as 'the societies' (often used unnecessarily) and 'number of working men' (should be 'the number'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues with apostrophes in 'NGO's' and 'CEO's' (pluralization does not require an apostrophe). Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving the accuracy of articles and plural forms, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence patterns.
