Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent times, the post women holds in the community has significantly advance over five decades ago. however, gender equality has not been recognized by majority of the societies. I completely agree that most communities are not aware of gender equality because of traditional and religious belief.
The main reason for my view is the ethnical belief in some regions of the world. This is because some societies still hold their traditional beliefs that says females are meant to handle house chores, so they prefer to send their male children to school. As a result, quite large number of girls are uneducated and are forced to learn vocational skills which as violated their right. for instance, in the northern part of Nigeria parent usually send their male children to school because they believe they will sustain their father's name.
Another important reason why I hold this position is religious belief. This means some religion still encourage their followers to follow the olden days method of early child marriage. This means some parent marry their female child off at a very tender age instead of allowing these children to choose their career path. Therefore, some religions are still against female equality because they tend to see women as a creature lower than men. for example, Islamic religion still encourages their worshipper on early female marriage.
In conclusion, the reason why some communities are still lagging behind on agreeing with gender equality is because of their traditional values and religious belief.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding traditional and religious beliefs are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The examples provided, such as the reference to northern Nigeria, are pertinent but could have been expanded to better support the argument. The conclusion is also quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to develop your supporting points more thoroughly and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with each focusing on a distinct reason for the lack of gender equality. Cohesive devices such as 'The main reason for my view', 'As a result', and 'Another important reason' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'post women holds' instead of 'position women hold' and 'ethnical belief' instead of 'ethnic or traditional beliefs'. Phrases like 'olden days method' are somewhat informal. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits the score. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('parent usually send'), incorrect verb forms ('has significantly advance'), and missing articles ('in northern part of Nigeria'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences starting with lowercase letters. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and proper capitalization.
