Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, significantly impacting the development of ideas. The essay is only 150 words long, which results in a very limited discussion of the prompt. While the student attempts to state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting examples required for an academic essay. The response does not fully address the complexity of the prompt, remaining superficial throughout. To improve, the student must expand on their points with specific evidence and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into sections labeled 'Introduction', 'Thesis', 'Opinion', and 'Conclusion', which is not appropriate for an IELTS essay format. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often mechanical. There is a lack of logical flow between sentences, making the argument difficult to follow. Paragraphing is not used effectively to structure the essay, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is unclear. To improve, the student should use standard paragraph structures and a wider range of linking words to connect ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several spelling errors, such as 'equility' and 'equlity' for 'equality', and 'proofs' instead of 'prove'. The range of vocabulary is basic, and the student struggles to use precise terminology related to the topic of gender equality. The phrasing is often awkward, such as 'different sites' and 'must be have the rights'. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and practicing correct spelling and word forms in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'each women have' and 'they must be have'. Sentence structures are simple and repetitive, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The lack of control over basic grammar, such as pluralization and verb forms, significantly lowers the score. To improve, the student needs to focus on fundamental grammar rules, particularly verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of modal verbs.
