Student answer (Band 6.0)

Gender equality is the becoming the national debate nowdays. 50 years ago to uptill now, Women have paved their own way and secured their spot by overcoming lots of hurdles. Though these societies cannot claim to say that gender equality is achieved. I agree to a great extent and will discuss in further essay.

Undoubtedly, women are becoming prominent in every field whether its technology, aircraft, doctors , enginnering and what not. They are guven equal rights to men for instance, they are paid equally in multinatinational compaines and even in film industry. Government has made many rules specially for ladies so that they can work hassle free and in safe environment along with that they are even given liablity of working from home so that they can persue their household responsibilities.

Still, there are some folks who believe differently. They cannot digest the fact that women can manage both the field equally and its her right too to have a carrer and become independent. For example, incentives or any sort of achivement by man is more promising and satisfying for societies than achived by women. Pregancy and later baby care is solely mothers duty is main culprit where women lack to mark their landmark on gender equality. Though minority but they believe that women should be in kitchen and taking care of babies and their household rather than doing jobs.

To conclude, indeed massive change is seen over the past 50 years in terms of women and their position although some mindsets still need to be changed.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging the progress made while arguing that gender equality remains elusive. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the second paragraph lists fields where women are prominent but lacks specific, well-supported examples or deeper analysis of why equality is still not achieved in these areas. The third paragraph touches on societal mindsets and the 'double burden' of work and childcare, which is a strong point, but it could have been expanded with more depth to reach a higher band. The response is balanced but would benefit from more detailed evidence to support the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Still, there are some folks who believe differently' is a bit informal and abrupt. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth logical flow, such as the transition between the discussion of workplace rights and the mention of 'liability of working from home'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'multinational companies' and 'gender equality'. However, there are several spelling errors ('nowdays', 'enginnering', 'guven', 'multinatinational', 'compaines', 'persue', 'achivement', 'achived') and some awkward collocations ('liability of working from home', 'mark their landmark'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but the frequent spelling mistakes and limited precision in word choice prevent a higher score. Expanding the range of academic vocabulary and proofreading for spelling would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'is the becoming the national debate', '50 years ago to uptill now', and 'Pregancy and later baby care is solely mothers duty is main culprit'. These errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement, are noticeable. While they do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
