Student answer (Band 5.5)

Today's women as compared to the women in past have changed in a diverse way. As you can see the women in past were not given opportunities for higher studies, instead they were held responsible for the home chores and were limited up to this. However, the woman of present is highly encouraged and is provided equal and unlimited opportunities regarding secondary education, job recruitment opportunities, business fields, social media platforms, and many more. Not only does the position of women has changed but the role has also categorized in the establishment of a modern and well-educated society, where a woman can work independently, make her own decisions, is free to have self-opinion, and so on. This has built the confidence of today's women to ask for her rights and get acknowledged about what they actually deserve by being the part of a society.

I deeply agree that societies is still moving with biasness when it comes to gender equality for a woman particularly because of the gender discrimination being relatively common even today in many countries. Male dominance is the utmost factor that allows the society to bound the women and her rights being irrespective to her rights.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 199 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or logical extension. You mention 'gender discrimination' and 'male dominance' but do not elaborate on how these manifest in modern society or provide concrete evidence to support your stance. To improve, you must expand your body paragraphs with detailed explanations and illustrative examples to ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into two short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited. While there is a basic attempt at logical flow, the transition between the historical context and your personal opinion is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'Not only does', but the overall structure feels fragmented due to the lack of a clear introduction and conclusion. To achieve a higher score, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'the women in past' and 'the woman of present'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'biasness' (which should be 'bias') and 'get acknowledged about what they actually deserve'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context. Expanding your range of academic collocations will help convey your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'the role has also categorized' should be 'the role has also been categorized', and 'societies is still moving' should be 'societies are still moving'. Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb forms in your complex sentences.
