Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this modern era, there has been a considerable debate over gender equality especially about women rights. Although the position of women has improved in many societies over last few decades, these communities can not assert convincingly that they have achieved gender equality entirely. In my opinion , I completely agree with the view that gender equality is still lacking in most of the cultures for many reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 72 words against the minimum requirement of 250 words. Because the text breaks off mid-sentence after only the introduction and a partial opening for the first body paragraph ("The primary reason why"), it only addresses the task minimally and fails to develop a position or ideas. According to the band descriptors, a response of this length can only be awarded a Band 4.0 for Task Achievement, as the prompt is not answered sufficiently to permit a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
Although the response is very short, the initial sentences show clear logical organisation. The introduction successfully frames the topic and states the writer's position ("In my opinion, I completely agree..."). However, because the text cuts off abruptly at 72 words, it is impossible to evaluate paragraphing or overall progression fully. Cohesive devices like "Although" and "The primary reason why" are used appropriately at the start. Based on the language produced, a Band 5.0 is appropriate as there is some organisation, but overall progression is absent due to the incomplete nature of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate and functional range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases such as "considerable debate over gender equality," "improved in many societies," and "assert convincingly" show a reasonable grasp of topic-related terminology. There are minor punctuation slips, such as the space before the comma in "opinion ,", but vocabulary use is natural. Because the vocabulary is cut short by the length restriction, it is difficult to demonstrate a wide range, fitting the Band 5.0 or 6.0 profile. Given the quality of the words used, a Band 6.0 is warranted for lexical adequacy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical structures attempted in the introduction are well-formed and accurate. The writer successfully uses a complex sentence with an introductory dependent clause ("Although the position of women has improved...") and controls verb tenses correctly ("has changed," "cannot claim"). The only noticeable error is a minor punctuation spacing issue before the comma. While the range is necessarily limited due to the 72-word length, the sentences produced are grammatically accurate. This aligns with Band 6.0, which accounts for a mix of simple and complex forms with good control over the produced segments.
