Student answer (Band 6.0)
The modern society has become more liberal and open minded compared to last century. position of women has improved a lot in society but we are still far behind in complete gender equality. i will explain the reasons and examples to explain the why society is still not equal.
First and foremost, female get way less wages compared to their male counterparts. Till today many businesses believe that female employee are less productive compared to male ,because of menstrual cycle every month. even though they might be still doing same amount of work , this belief leads to decreased salary and bonuses. for instances in last report of pwc on an average female is being paid 20 percentage less compared to men at same hour worked. if we improve the pay , female would get more financial freedom.
secondly, high position females still go under scrutiny of someone who gave sexual favours to reach their position. even if female works same as male , in some cases harder than men ,and get promoted or get higher position many peers still believe that they might have gotten their position with some illicit means. this type of mentality demotivate honest hard working female youth and stop their growth. people gave freedom to work but still females are treated as second class citizens.
to conclude, even though females are working as hard as male but they get less in paycheck and meanwhile they have to under rumours and scrutiny of society for outperforming their male counterparts. until this is the case i believe we have not reached the true gender equality even though we have given them much more freedom .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt directly, presenting a clear position that gender equality has not yet been achieved. The writer supports this stance with two main arguments: the gender wage gap and societal scrutiny regarding professional advancement. Ideas are generally extended with explanations and a specific example referencing a PwC report. However, some arguments tend to over-generalize and lack deeper development, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0. The conclusion neatly summarizes the writer's viewpoint. While the task is fully addressed, the depth of idea extension and supporting evidence prevents it from reaching the higher bands. The student meets all the core requirements of the task prompt while maintaining a consistent viewpoint throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'First and foremost' and 'secondly', although referencing and transitions can occasionally feel mechanical or basic. For instance, the transition between sentences within body paragraphs sometimes lacks smooth connectivity. The progression of ideas is generally logical, taking the reader from the introduction of the thesis to wage disparities and then to social scrutiny. While the organization is clear and manageable, the occasional mechanical use of cohesive devices and minor lapses in referencing keep the coherence at a Band 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'counterparts', 'financial freedom', and 'scrutiny'. However, there are noticeable word-choice inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'female get way less wages' instead of 'women receive lower wages', and 'go under scrutiny' instead of 'come under scrutiny'. Spelling errors are present, such as 'demotivate' instead of 'demotivates' (agreement issue) and lowercase capitalization at the start of sentences and with the pronoun 'i'. These errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to easily follow the argument, but the lack of precision and flexibility limits the score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and relative clauses such as 'even though they might be still doing same amount of work'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage ('the' modern society, 'female' as a noun pluralization), subject-verb agreement ('female get', 'people gave'), and capitalization/punctuation. For example, 'female employee are less productive' contains both a singular/plural mismatch and a missing article. Despite these frequent errors, they rarely impede communication, as the intended meaning remains clear to the reader. This balance of mixed structures and persistent errors aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
