Student answer (Band 5.0)

The role of women in societies has brought up a significant alterations to these societies for over the last 50 years. But these societies cannot claim to have achieved gender equility and i completely agree with this statement.

It is true that we cannot deny the fact that the women are now the core members of these societies and are almost in every field of work and study but still they are not given the complete rights that they deserve so that one can claim that gender equility is achieved. They are deprived of there basics needs and salaries as compared to men with same role in society. Although it is a fact and cannot be denied that in current societies there are still some kind of jobs that can only be done by the men. Therefore this is one reason that cannot support the claim of gender equility.

Women these days do not depend on men but stills there are certain kinds of work where they need a men to do that job for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by agreeing that gender equality has not been achieved over the past 50 years, providing some relevant ideas such as unequal pay and restricted job roles. However, the response is severely underdeveloped and falls well short of the minimum 250-word requirement, containing only 176 words. Because the length requirement is significantly unmet and the ideas are left underdeveloped without sufficient supporting examples, the task response is limited. According to the band descriptors, this falls under Band 5, as the task is only addressed partially, the position is sometimes repetitive, and the ideas lack sufficient expansion to meet the demands of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates some organisation with an introduction and body paragraphs, but the overall progression is weak due to the brevity of the response. Cohesive devices are used minimally and repetitively (e.g., 'Although it is a fact', 'Therefore'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph consists of only a single short sentence ('Women these days do not depend on men but stills there are certain kinds of work where they need a men to do that job for them.'), which disrupts the flow of the argument. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting pronouns without a clear anchor. This corresponds to Band 5, which features some organisation and basic cohesive devices, but lacks clear overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including phrases like 'core members' and 'deprived of there basics needs'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'equility' instead of equality, 'alterations' instead of alterations in role, and 'basics' instead of basic. Furthermore, there is repetition of key terms like 'societies' and 'gender equility'. While communication is not entirely impeded, these lexical limitations and spelling mistakes place the response firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'It is true that we cannot deny the fact that the women are now...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('women are now... but still they are not given', 'where they need a men'), spelling errors ('stills'), and incorrect prepositions or articles. Attempts at complex sentences often result in run-on structures or faulty punctuation. Because these frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex structures, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
