Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern cities, women have acheived a great level of freedom and a significant rise in the number of work opportunities; although most villages in the country do not have these facilities yet. The following essay discusses whether this is accurate and to how much extent the gender equality barrier broken.
I believe that women have a reached a position in the modern society where they can claim their basic rights, whether that be of demanding an equal pay at their job roles, or by demanding the right to deserve a senior position in an institution. The Goverment not only supports them by law but also protects any misjustice against their rights for the same. At the same time, women are labelled difficult when they raise their voice against injustice, therefore I do not agree that we have achieved gender equality completely.
Women across their workplaces still undergo discriminations in multiple situations. For instance, a man will not be questioned for being married or planning to have children, whereas a woman is judged for the same. The safety of women remains a major factor when we talk about gender equality. The female victims in our society are far more in number when compared to the male victims. This has not changed in the last 50 years and more. Moreover, men in villages still think of a women working as taboo. Such a society cannot claim that they have achieved gender equality completely.
In conclusion, I believe we have come a long way in the last 50 years but we still have a long way to go. Women are treated as equal in most places but it cannot be claimed that they are treated as equals everywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear position that while women have gained rights in modern society, full gender equality has not been achieved. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples such as workplace discrimination, safety concerns, and societal attitudes in villages. However, there is a slight tendency to introduce a somewhat confusing rural-urban distinction in the introduction ('most villages in the country do not have these facilities yet') which is only partially tied back to the main question later. The position is maintained throughout, but some arguments could be further extended to reach higher band levels. Overall, the task is well addressed, earning a solid Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as institutional rights versus workplace discrimination and safety. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well, as seen with phrases like 'At the same time,' 'For instance,' and 'Moreover.' However, referencing and progression occasionally feel slightly mechanical, such as the awkward phrasing in the thesis statement ('to how much extent the gender equality barrier broken'), which interrupts the natural flow. Despite minor cohesion glitches, there is a clear logical progression throughout, justifying a Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'gender equality,' 'institutional,' 'discrimination,' and 'taboo.' However, there are some notable word choice and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'acheived' instead of 'achieved,' 'a reached a position' (typographical duplication), and 'misjustice' instead of 'injustice.' There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, but precision and collocation are occasionally flawed, placing this response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with complex structures such as 'whether that be of demanding an equal pay at their job roles, or by demanding the right...' and concessive clauses with 'although'. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies and awkward constructions, including 'to how much extent the gender equality barrier broken' (missing verb/passive voice error), 'demand the right to deserve' (unnatural collocation), and 'a women working' instead of 'a woman working'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they persist throughout the text, making Band 6.0 the most appropriate descriptor.
