Student answer (Band 5.5)

I agree with the given statement. Over the 50 years the position of women is changing in our society in our homes and workplaces. There are several factors that encourage women to avail the opprtunities which they deserve such as education, skills, women oriented projects etc. Despite of the positive change we have not gain the target of gender equality. Men and Women are two equal part of our society, In reality women in consider as weak part of our society yet. In a male dominent society we women faces domestic violence at home, harresment, and sexual abuses at workplaces, educational institutions, markets, even with no safe place. There are several cases which have being reported and even major are un reveal. We have many cases in pakistan which we being came to know where child have being sexual abuse, The five year old girl is raped by a shopkeeper, A student in Newyork university raped by 7 men etc . In our routine we see harrsment at workplace and market become casual for men. In a society where women role is extending from household to workplace through education and opportunities we still lack and fail to achieve gender equality. We as a society needs to take our role seriously, Men who are in leadership roles must stand for gender equality and support compaigns, and protests which are helpful to have a gender equality. Men and women both work parallel equally with same platform and opportunities for Gender equality in real.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt. Relevant ideas regarding education, workplace changes, and persistent issues like harassment and domestic violence are introduced to support the argument. However, some of these ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient extension. For instance, while the essay mentions specific real-world examples such as cases in Pakistan and New York, they are presented as a loose list rather than being fully integrated to substantiate the broader arguments about gender equality. The overall position remains discernible throughout, but deeper elaboration of the main points would be required to push the response into higher scoring territory.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise ideas around the central theme of gender equality. However, the progression is disrupted because the response lacks effective paragraphing, being presented as one large block of text. Cohesive devices are sometimes faulty, mechanical, or overused, such as the repetitive use of 'and' or abrupt transitions between sentences like 'In our routine we see...'. Referencing is not always clear, particularly when shifting between global observations and specific anecdotes, which makes the logical flow somewhat disjointed and limits the overall readability of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's basic message. The student attempts less common vocabulary and topic-related terms, such as 'gender equality', 'domestic violence', and 'opportunities', though this is accompanied by some inaccuracy in word choice, collocation, and spelling. Examples of lexical errors include 'opprtunities', 'dominent', 'harresment', 'un reveal', and 'compaigns'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision and control that keeps the lexical range at an intermediate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct longer sentences. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement and tense inconsistencies, such as 'the position of women is changing' shifting awkwardly, 'women in consider as weak', 'cases which have being reported', and 'child have being sexual abuse'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences and comma splices appearing frequently throughout the text, meaning control over sentence structure is inconsistent.
