Student answer (Band 6.5)
The position of women has chnaged a great deal in many socities over the past 50 years. women now have greater access to education and employment, and they can take part in many areas of public life. However, these socities cannot claim to hvae achieved gander equality. I agree that although women have made significant progress over 50 years, complete gender equality has not yet been achived.
First of all, women have made considerable progress in education and employment. In the past, women in many socities were expected to focus mainly on household duities, whereas today they can study at universities and pursue professional careers. For instance, many women now work as doctors, engineers, managers and business owners. This shows that their position in socitey has improved greatly compared with previous generations.
Nevertheless, there are still important inequlities between men and women. In some workplaces, women may receive lower salaries or have fewer opportunities to reach senior positions. In addition, women often have to takr greater responsibility for children and housework, even when both patners work full-time. For example, a working mother may spend several hours looking after her children and completing household tasks after returning from work, while her husband may have fewer domestice responsibilities.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that women's position has improved substantially over the last 50 years. However, this progress does not mean that complete gender equality has been achieved. Further chnage are needed in workplaces and households to ensure that men and women have equal opportunities and responsibilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing that societies have not yet achieved complete gender equality despite significant progress. The main ideas are relevant and supported, notably regarding education, employment, and domestic responsibilities. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed rather than fully extended, which is characteristic of this level. For instance, the mention that women may receive lower salaries or have fewer opportunities in some workplaces is introduced but not explored with a deeper example, unlike the detailed household responsibilities paragraph. The position is maintained consistently throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, fulfilling the core requirements successfully while showing elements of the next band through a clear overall progression of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing progress and remaining inequalities, followed by a summary conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Nevertheless', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the argument. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel somewhat mechanical rather than entirely seamless, occasionally relying on standard transitions rather than flexible semantic linking across sentences. The organization of information clearly demonstrates a logical framework while pointing towards more advanced and fluid structural transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms such as 'gender equality', 'professional careers', 'senior positions', and 'domestic responsibilities'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, though these are sometimes accompanied by spelling errors such as 'chnaged', 'socities', 'hvae', 'gander', 'achived', 'inequlities', 'takr', 'patners', 'domestice', and 'chnage'. Fortunately, these spelling slips and occasional minor word-choice errors do not impede communication, as the intended meaning remains clear throughout. The vocabulary is minimally functional and sufficient for the task, though greater accuracy in spelling and more precision in lexical selection would be required to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as concessive clauses ('although women have made significant progress') and conditional or temporal dependent clauses ('even when both partners work full-time'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing subject-verb agreement or article inconsistencies in isolated spots, but these errors rarely impede communication and do not obscure the writer's meaning. The majority of simple sentences are accurate, and the attempts at complex structures show a reasonable command of syntax. This reflects a solid control over basic and moderately complex grammatical patterns, balancing reliable simple structures with emerging control over complexity.
