Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree with this statement that the position of women changed alot from over the past 50 years like in every field in which women are not able to do a job but now they are doing all the tough jobs and face the difficulty like a men do but the society cannot claim it that men and women are both equal because i think women is more stronger than men not physically but mentally like alot of working women are not just doing her job but she also takes care of their children and their homes. I am not talking about house chores because they are earning so obviously they don't have time and energy for it they will kept maids but they are managing it I think this is a big thing. I recently experienced this thing in my family my cousin was a teacher and than she got married but she didn't quit her job. She takes permission from her husband but her mother in law didn't because she thinks that she will not be able to do it perfectly because she is one of the part of our society who thinks that women cann't handle it but actually my cousin prove them wrong by managing allthe things so perfectly that she is convinced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position, agreeing that women’s status has improved but gender equality has not been achieved. The example of your cousin continuing to teach after marriage is relevant and helps illustrate social expectations that can restrict women. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: it focuses mainly on women’s ability to manage work and family, rather than explaining broader inequalities or showing why society cannot claim equality. The claim that women are “more stronger” mentally is also asserted rather than supported, and the discussion of housework is unclear. The response is 33 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop reasons and examples. Add a second distinct reason and explain each point more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a recognisable line of thought: you state your view, discuss women’s responsibilities, and then give a family example. The personal example is relevant, but the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main points and example are not clearly separated. Ideas also run together through repeated use of “but,” “because,” and “so,” while the shift from gender equality to whether women can manage work and family is not clearly signposted. Some references, such as “they” and “it,” are difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and example; then use clear links such as “Furthermore” or “For instance” and make each pronoun’s reference explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate your main view and personal example, including “working women,” “tough jobs,” and “managing.” However, the range is limited and several informal or imprecise expressions recur, such as “alot,” “big thing,” and “all the things.” Some word choices and collocations make the argument less clear, including “the position of women changed” and “takes permission from her husband.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “cannt” and “allthe,” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise language about equality and social expectations, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe women’s “increased participation in the workforce” and “unequal domestic responsibilities” rather than relying on general phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in extended sentences, but the response relies heavily on long strings joined with “but,” “because,” and “so.” These complex attempts are often faulty, making some relationships between ideas difficult to follow. There are frequent problems with verb forms and agreement: “women is,” “she also takes care of their children,” and “she will kept maids” do not follow standard patterns. Tense use is also inconsistent in the cousin example (“was a teacher,” “got married,” “takes permission,” “prove”). Punctuation is limited, especially in the opening sentence, which needs to be divided into shorter sentences. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled subordinate clauses and check subject–verb agreement and tense consistency.
