Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, gender equality and the current stutas of women in our society has become a matter of increasing debate. Even though many societies achieved significant improvement in the position of women compare to the last 50 years, they cannot firmly claim that they achieved perfect gender equality yet. I completely agree with the view as in many underdeveloped countries women are still neglated and even in some developing countries the mindset of the genaral public toward women hasn't changed yet.

In our contemporary society, the situation of women have changed a lot compare to 50 years ago. Nowadays, women are allowed to get proper education facilities, proper job facilities and so on. Many women run their won business along with men. In our society, women get almost all the facilities like men. But even though the situation of women have changed and they get more facilities, the view and impression of the society toward women haven't changed.

In many society, women get all the facilities and oppertuanities that of men. But in some underdeveloped countries and even some developing countries, women face several obstracles to get these facilities and oppertuanities. Some of these countries may have all of those facilities, but because of the bad view and impression of the society many women fail enjoy them properly. Furthermore, women still also face descrimination in job and business, as sometimes employers remain biased to men.

To conclude, even though the stutas of women in our contemporary society have changed a lot compare to 50 years ago, I agree that we cannot firmly claim of achieveing a perfect gender equlity without changing our views and ideas towards women along with increasing facilities and oppertuanities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that changes in women’s status have not yet produced gender equality. You address both progress, such as improved access to education and jobs, and continuing barriers, including social attitudes and employer bias. However, the discussion remains broad and some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, you say women in some countries “fail enjoy them properly,” but do not give a specific illustration of how attitudes restrict their opportunities. The distinction between societies where women have access to facilities and those where they do not is also not fully developed. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of one or two barriers and support them with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs discuss progress and remaining barriers, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “Even though,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the second and third paragraphs both repeat that women have facilities and opportunities in some societies but face barriers in others. Some references are also unclear, as in “all of those facilities,” where the reader must infer what “those” refers to. Organise each paragraph around a distinct main point, then use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “gender equality,” “position of women,” “discrimination,” and “employers remain biased,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “facilities,” “opportunities,” and “view and impression.” Several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors also reduce precision, including “stutas,” “neglated,” “oppertuanities,” and “obstracles.” Some phrases are unnatural, such as “proper job facilities” and “the mindset of the general public toward women.” Aim for more precise language about access to education, employment, and decision-making, and check spelling carefully. This would make the argument clearer and more natural without changing its meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including concessive structures such as “Even though many societies achieved significant improvement…” and a conditional clause beginning “because of the bad view…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “the situation of women have changed” should use a singular verb, while “women fail enjoy them” needs an infinitive marker. In the conclusion, “claim of achieveing” is not a correct grammatical pattern. There are also inconsistent forms in phrases such as “compare to 50 years ago.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
