Student answer (Band 6.0)

The role of women in society has altered a lot in many regions since the last 50 years, however, the gender difference between a man and a woman remains the same. I truly agree with this statement as there is a lot of improvement in women empowerment but there are some problems too.

Women are no less than a man, they should have equal rights of education and employment. In the past man used to treat woman as a maid and a lower being which are born to serve them. With the progress of countries and start of modern era, woman were started to give their rights and free will. For instance, in the past, only men were allowed to get education, while women served their husbands and were considered as an inferior identity.

Today the world has progressed a lot and women have succeeded in getting good education equal to men, however, this situation has not been applied in all of the regions of world. In many regions, the mentality of people remians the same as fifty years ago, this is the reason why gender equality has not yet been achieved in the society. For example, the minds of young children are spoiled by their elders that gender matters and men are superior, as a result, a huge gap is formed in their minds.

To put it in a nutshell, God has created everyone equally, noone is superior. Moreover, equal rights are very important for the progress of society as well as the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that progress for women has not yet produced gender equality. You address change over time and give relevant support, including women’s increased access to education and the influence of attitudes passed on to children. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The historical example is broad, and the point about children learning that men are superior would be stronger with a specific illustration or explanation of how this affects opportunities today. The response also focuses mainly on education and social attitudes, with little consideration of other dimensions such as employment, pay, or representation. Develop these points with concrete examples and explain more directly why they show that equality remains incomplete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction stating your view, two body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Ideas generally progress from historical change to present-day barriers, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “however,” and “as a result” help show relationships. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening uses “however” to join two independent ideas, and the conclusion introduces the claim that equality is important for national progress without developing it earlier. Some references, such as “this situation,” could identify more precisely which aspect of women’s progress is meant. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph’s central point explicit, then connect examples directly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “gender equality,” “equal rights,” “inferior,” and “progress,” and the main ideas remain understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “To put it in a nutshell.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise or repetitive: “gender difference” does not clearly express the idea of inequality, “women empowerment” is awkward, and “inferior identity” is not a natural phrase in this context. Spelling errors such as “remians” and “noone” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range around employment, social expectations, and equal opportunities, and check spelling and common word partnerships when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “as,” and “which,” and your meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “a man and a woman” is used where the general plural “men and women” is needed, and “woman were started to give their rights” has an incorrect passive construction. In “which are born to serve them,” the relative clause does not agree clearly with its antecedent. The opening also joins two complete clauses with a comma before “however.” Practise accurate passive forms and subject–verb agreement, and use full stops or semicolons to separate independent clauses.
