Student answer (Band 6.0)
The topic of gender equality remained a widely debated issue since decades. The role of women has changed in many societies over the past 50 years with improved financial status and empowerment but there are still many hurdles in the women progress. I largely agree with the statement that women still could not achieve equal rights to men in many societies.
In the past women were confined to home with no rights to study, work or earn money. Their basic repsonsibility was to reproduce, raise new generations and perform house chores. Females were not allowed to participate in politics or even caste a vote to elect government representative. Some societies such as ancient Indian culture treated women even worse, with abendoning all living rights for widows.
With the advancement in science and technology and with improvement in rate of literacy, people realise the importance of role of women for a healthy and prosperous life. Females were gradually allowed to receive education and work in different fields of life. Nowadays, wome are seen in almost all fileds of life from office work to space expeditions.
Unfortunately, despite achieving sucesss in many areas, women are still struggling to gain similar rights as males, in many countries. Many cultures women are treated as minority. There is a discrimination in number of jobs and amount of salary for female employees. Moreover, some socities women are deprived of property inheritance rights.
In addition, some cultures such as Arab culture do not allow women to participate in politics and some other important matters of the state. Women in these countries are still trying to acheive their identity and rights.
In conclusion, women equality yet to be acheived through awareness programmes and a dedicated contribution from authoties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you “largely agree” that women have not achieved equal rights, and the conclusion maintains this view. You address both change over time and continuing inequality, using relevant examples such as women’s access to education and work, pay discrimination, inheritance, and political participation. This gives the response a sound basis and covers the task. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the reference to “Arab culture” is broad and would be stronger with a specific, carefully qualified example. The historical discussion also takes considerable space without directly comparing past and present. More explanation of how the examples demonstrate the extent of remaining inequality would make the argument more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from the historical position of women, to improvements, then to continuing barriers, and finally to a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have clear purposes, and signposts such as “Unfortunately” and “In addition” help readers follow the shift to ongoing inequality. The progression is not always fully smooth, however. The two paragraphs on current barriers overlap, and the final paragraph introduces awareness programmes and authorities without developing how these would address the problems discussed. Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated openings such as “In addition” and “Moreover.” Clearer connections between each example and the central claim, along with more varied referencing and transitions, would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “empowerment,” “discrimination,” “property inheritance rights,” and “participate in politics,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a healthy and prosperous life.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “repsonsibility,” “caste a vote,” “abendoning,” “sucesss,” and “acheive” are examples. Some combinations are unnatural or unclear, including “hurdles in the women progress,” “similar rights as males,” and “treated as minority.” These issues fit a vocabulary range that is adequate for the topic but not consistently controlled. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for equality, employment, and political rights.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a time clause in “With the advancement … people realise” and a contrast introduced by “despite.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The topic … remained … since decades” needs a suitable present-perfect construction and time expression; “In the past women were confined” needs punctuation after the introductory phrase; and “Many cultures women are treated” lacks a grammatical link between the subject and the clause. The conclusion, “women equality yet to be acheived,” is also missing a verb and article. Work on complete sentence structures, articles, and subject–verb patterns, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
