Student answer (Band 5.5)
The position of women has changed throughout many years, as we are going ahead in time the imprtance and role of women in socities has gradually rose making the women more important and slightly equal to men.
In my opinion, men and women are two halves of a full and they cannot function without each other. But the term gender equality has been hijacked and people have been brainwashed to think that men and women should be equal in capabilities and responsibilities. Although, my opinion on this is that men and women are equal important for the society but they should not be equally capable because nature has not made us that way. An average women cannot be as powerful as an average man likewise an average man cannot be as emotional strong as an average woman.
Additionally, if a woman demands to be equally treated as a man then we have to specify the things in which women should be equally served. For instance: in importance, respect and role in reproduction, women deserves equality with men but if we talk about the things like strength, intelligence and survival capabilities men are always dominant because nature has structured them that way. So claiming a society of being gender equal in general is a false idea instead they should tell that men and women are equally important but equality in other things depends on capabilities.
Summing that up, women has gained alot of rights over the past 50 years and currently this mentality is pushing us towards feminism and society is at the verge of chaos and the only way out is to understand that men and women are equally important but not equal in everything.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view: you accept that women’s position has improved, but reject the idea that equality should mean identical capabilities or responsibilities. The examples about respect, reproduction and physical strength are relevant to the topic. However, the response only partly addresses the question of whether societies have achieved gender equality: it focuses mainly on differences between men and women rather than examining continuing inequalities in areas such as pay, leadership or access to opportunities. Claims such as “men are always dominant” are broad and are not supported with evidence. Develop a more balanced argument by distinguishing equal rights and opportunities from claims about average differences, then explain why these societies still fall short of equality.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two main paragraphs and a concluding summary. The progression from your general view to examples and then a conclusion is generally easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “For instance” and “Summing that up” help signal the stages of the argument. However, the second paragraph combines several claims, and the relationship between equality of importance and equality of capabilities is not always clearly explained. The conclusion introduces “feminism” and “chaos” without developing that connection earlier, which weakens the overall progression. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, use clearer references to the question, and ensure the conclusion follows directly from the points you have established.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “gender equality,” “capabilities,” “responsibilities,” “reproduction” and “survival capabilities.” This allows you to express your central distinction between equal importance and identical abilities. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, and spelling errors are noticeable: “imprtance,” “socities,” “alot” and “equally important” (where “equally” is needed before an adjective) reduce the precision of the writing. Phrases such as “brainwashed,” “pushing us towards feminism” and “society is at the verge of chaos” are emotive and imprecise for an academic argument. Choose more neutral language and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your ideas clearer and more appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “if,” and you use these to express contrast and conditions. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “the importance and role … has gradually rose” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form, while “women deserves equality” and “women has gained” have agreement errors. The opening sentence also runs several ideas together without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a controlled subordinate clause, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during editing. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your argument easier to follow.
