Student answer (Band 6.0)

Over the past 50 years, the position of women has shown a positive change in many societies. However, the societies still have not reached to gender equality. In my view, women should be given equal rights irrespective of their gender. They should be considered equal as men.

There are several reasons why women should have equal right as men. At present women are working in every sector whether it is healthcare, technology or business.

They are financially independent as well as they are managing household work. As a result, they are having more responsibilities as compared to men. To quote an example, women have more leadership qualities and have decision making power. This has changed the attitude of some individuals towards women.

Despite this, various countries have made some laws for women protection and rights. Whereas, some countries are still under impression of gender equality. As a result, women are still struggling for the position and facing descrimination in the society. To give an example, women working in an organisation still face unequal opportunties at work due to gender inequality such as they are still being restricted for managerial roles or higher level roles.

In my opinion, women are still fighting for their economical rights and they are still facing society pressure. Everyone should change attitude towards women and treat them equally.

In conclusion, the government should take some serious steps by making strict laws for women protection and rights. They should also spread awareness among people about gender equality and what rights women should have by conducting seminars or workshops.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that societies have not achieved gender equality, and you address both progress and continuing barriers. Relevant points include women’s participation across sectors, unequal access to managerial roles, and the need for legal protection and public awareness. However, some claims are asserted rather than explained. For example, the statement that women have “more leadership qualities” is broad and is not supported with a specific reason or example. The discussion of laws also remains general, without showing how their effectiveness differs between countries. Develop fewer points in more depth, and connect each example directly to your argument about why progress has not yet produced equality.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to reasons, continuing discrimination, your opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable purposes, and signposts such as “Despite this” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. “Whereas” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence, and “As a result” is used where the cause-and-effect relationship is not fully explained. The final opinion paragraph also repeats ideas about rights and social pressure rather than advancing the discussion. Improve progression by making each paragraph build on the previous one and using linking phrases only when the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “financially independent,” “gender inequality,” “managerial roles,” and “awareness.” These expressions make the subject clear, and you attempt some more formal language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “reached to gender equality,” “equal right,” and “society pressure.” Spelling errors in “descrimination” and “opportunties” also reduce accuracy. Some phrases, including “women protection,” need more natural forms. Build precision by learning common collocations for rights, discrimination, and employment, and check spelling carefully. More varied, accurate vocabulary would help express your ideas with greater clarity and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including clauses introduced by “whether,” “as well as,” and “due to.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “women should have equal right” needs a plural noun, while “the societies still have not reached to” has an incorrect verb pattern and article use. In “They should be considered equal as men,” the comparison structure is not formed accurately. There are also awkward sentence constructions, such as “As a result, they are having more responsibilities,” where the tense and phrasing could be more controlled. Practise accurate comparisons, articles, plural forms, and verb patterns while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
