Student answer (Band 6.0)
The women position has increasingly progressed from last five decades. Although they have not maintained the same level in the society which men have, but they have gain more reco gnition from more than last fifty years.
I overwhelmingly agree to this statement and my reasons and examples will explain my point.
Some reasons for this progress are the education of women and questioning the society through many ways. In former times, women were not educated enough to question the society and ask for there rights. They did not even know that they were deprived of their basic human rights. Although the society is treating the women in better way than that in before, but they could not have achieved the equal status and same rights in the society which men do have. For example, women do not get the same inheritance from their fathers. In addition, in many society, people expect a pregnant woman to produce a baby boy rather than a girl.
In past years, in many countries like South Africa, Iran, Afghanistan and Asia, many women did not have much ability to present themselves openly. Now-a-days, women in those countries have a good recognition of themselves and they are jumping into everyoccupation. There is a huge change in the mentallity of society towards a women now. People are helping their daughters to become whatever they want. Women are participating in every aspect of life with greater confidence. For example, we have female pilots, doctors, psychologists, drivers, skaters and teachers now. The point is that the change has been observed in some parts of the world. In those places, some women still need the approval of men to odopt their future career. In fact, there are some areas where women still cannot go outside of their houses without the permission of their husbands of fathers.
In conclusion, the reputation of women has changed immensively in last five decades, but they are not at the same level of equality with that of men. Where there is equality, there is not a dependance of one gender on the other. I extremely agree that the statement given is right.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that women’s status has improved but equality has not been achieved. You address both sides of the statement, using examples such as unequal inheritance, pressure to have a son, and restrictions on women’s movement and career choices. These relevant points support the argument and show the response fully meets the core task. The discussion also begins to explain change through education and greater participation in work. However, some claims remain broad, and the examples are not always developed to show how they demonstrate continuing inequality. The country references are also unclear, particularly “South Africa, Iran, Afghanistan and Asia.” To strengthen the response further, explain the causes and consequences of one or two examples more precisely and consistently connect them to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting progress and continuing inequality, and a conclusion that restates your view. This gives the reader an overall logical route through the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or confusing. For example, “Although … but” combines two contrasting linkers, and “The point is that the change has been observed in some parts of the world. In those places” leaves the reference to “those places” unclear. The second body paragraph also shifts between countries, social attitudes, occupations, and restrictions without a clear sequence. Use topic sentences to distinguish progress from remaining barriers, and make each example follow directly from the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “inheritance,” “human rights,” “recognition,” “participating,” and “equality,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “deprived of their basic human rights.” This gives you enough range to discuss the issue, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural. Examples include “the women position,” “good recognition of themselves,” “the reputation of women,” and “immensively.” There are also spelling or spacing slips such as “mentallity,” “odopt,” and “everyoccupation.” Aim for standard collocations and check spelling carefully; precise terms such as “status,” “social recognition,” and “career choices” would express your ideas more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “For example,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For instance, “Although they have not maintained …, but they have gain” has faulty clause linking and verb form; “women do not get the same inheritance … which men do have” is awkwardly structured; and “in many society” has a number-agreement error. Some sentences also run together, as in “world. In those places.” Practise building accurate contrast clauses without doubling conjunctions, and check subject–verb agreement, tense, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision. Greater control of these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
