Student answer (Band 4.0)

In contemporary society, the gender equality plays a major role in society. The position of women has changed in many societies over the past 50 years. But societies can not claim to have gender equality. In my opinion, I strongly agree with the statement because females have to face lots of challenges in the workplace and household.

On the one hand, they have to work at work place as well as they do domestic work. For instance, in many parts of the countries women still have to do domestic household work after spending long time in workplace. Men things this work belongs to women.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that societies have not achieved gender equality, and you identify workplace and household challenges as relevant reasons. However, the response is far too brief: it contains 95 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250 words; the nine words copied from the prompt are not counted. As a result, the argument is only minimally developed. The household-work example is relevant, but it is not explained in enough detail, and the workplace challenge mentioned in the introduction is not supported with an example. Develop both points, explain how they demonstrate inequality, and add a conclusion that restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction states your view, followed by a paragraph beginning “On the one hand” that introduces a supporting point. This gives the reader a simple route through your ideas. However, the short response does not develop a complete argument, and the paragraph’s ideas are not clearly connected: the shift from women’s domestic work to “Men things this work belongs to women” needs explanation. The opening also repeats the task’s central claim rather than moving directly into your reasons. Use separate, developed paragraphs for each main reason, connect examples to the claim they support, and include a concluding paragraph. Cohesive phrases should clarify relationships, not simply announce a point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “gender equality,” “challenges,” “workplace,” and “domestic work,” so the main subject is understandable. However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “society” appearing repeatedly and “lots of challenges.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “work at work place” and “domestic household work.” Choose more precise terms and vary how you refer to employment and unpaid responsibilities. For example, “workplace discrimination” or “unequal domestic responsibilities” would express your ideas more clearly. Building a broader set of topic-specific vocabulary will help you explain the different forms of inequality without relying on the same general words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You communicate your main position using mostly simple sentence patterns, and the opening sentence “The position of women has changed in many societies over the past 50 years” is grammatically clear. There is an attempt at a more complex structure in “because females have to face…,” but the response shows little variety overall. Errors include “societies can not claim to have gender equality,” where the modal is normally written as one word, and “Men things this work belongs to women,” which has an incorrect verb form and an unclear sentence structure. The phrase “after spending long time” also needs an article. Practise accurate subject–verb forms, articles, and sentence construction, then use a wider mix of simple and complex sentences to explain your examples.
